It comes to all. That realisation that our immortality is for limited time only.

Life gives us little timely reminders of our age.
What are the little signs that youth is firmly in your rear view mirror?

Klutzy I had just that discussion with someone recently. How it hit me recently that 80's/90's films/music are old to dd in exactly the same way 50's/60's films/music were old to me as a teen in the 80's with a mum for whom they were just of her era/new to her.

I was also older than mum when I had dd than she had been when she had me. So while I was offended at dd seeing me as a person with outdated views and likes, I'd done exactly the same to mum and she was 4 years younger!

When you discuss your August bank holiday day off with friends and you've all spent it cleaning, tidying, sewing etc. I'm sure that I used to spend August bank holidays in pub gardens.

Pissedoffdotcom · 27/08/2018 20:24

The music one gets me. I still listen to music my folks loved...now when i mention songs i like they seem even older 😂 listening to the radio when cleaning i barely recognise the singers let alone their new songs. Getting old before my time

When the pop/rock stars that you listened to as a teenager die. Sad
When you struggle to undo childproof medicine bottles.

BillywilliamV · 27/08/2018 20:53

The skin on the back of my hands flaps under the hot air drier...and I have three white pubic hairs Sad

Toofle · 27/08/2018 22:03

Billywilliam, I came on to post about the skin on the back of my hands rippling in the breeze from the hand dryer.

TornFromTheInside · 27/08/2018 22:36

Hold on - he's got three white pubic hairs on the back of his hands?

See a doctor!

When you open your purse to check if there is any cash in it (who the hell am I trying to kid here?! I've never got cash in it!) it didn't, so I say to the cashier, did you see the moths fly out then? Received a blank stare Hmm

Or at work talking about top gun, all the young ones (work behind a bar) are like, what's top gun? REALLY?!?! Shock oh and Goose died over 30 years ago now that also made me feel old Sad

TornFromTheInside · 28/08/2018 00:38

When you mention 'The Falklands' and people say 'the what?'

Then you realise it's 35 years ago!

Princess - much online debate about who will be playing Goose's son in the upcoming LONG awaited sequel.

When you start getting letters from a GP who's never shown an ounce of interest in your wellbeing - for a little health report.

It's like going to a garage - you just know they'll find something wrong if they look hard enough

When a lovely young school girl on the bus asked me if I wanted her seat. I was only 51!!!

TornFromTheInside · 28/08/2018 04:09

Aww I don't always think that means you're old though - I think sometimes nice kids just do that for their elders - and to them even 35 seems old!

When you feel a huge sense of relief when someone cancels the night out you had planned, then the excitement sets in thinking about what you're going to eat whilst lying on the sofa in your pyjamas instead

Blankiefan · 28/08/2018 06:07

You know that you're younger colleague won't know who Johnny Ball so you explain that he's Zoe Ball's dad and what his show was about.... but your colleague doesn't know who Zoe Ball is!!!

PrincessIsAUnicorn · 28/08/2018 10:43

@Graphista ooooh, I hope they don't do a bad job of it! Hmm going to have a long think about who it could be now X

Graphista · 28/08/2018 16:39

I hope they get it right too. Lot of expectation on this film.

Satsumaeater · 28/08/2018 16:43

When I was 35, realising the Berlin Wall had been down for more of my lifetime than it had been up.

And realising this year that I have been with my husband for half my lifetime.

Satsumaeater · 28/08/2018 16:45

How it hit me recently that 80's/90's films/music are old to dd in exactly the same way 50's/60's films/music were old to me as a teen in the 80's with a mum for whom they were just of her era/new to her

But in the 80s it wasn't cool to listen to anything that wasn't current - whereas now, you can listen to anything.

Graphista · 28/08/2018 18:00

I'm not sure, dd and her friends tend to listen to current stuff mainly - certainly when they're together.

user1489094655 · 28/08/2018 18:10

When Paul Gambuccini does his pop show look back and it's a yeareally in the 80's or 90s.

Sneezing legs together whilst preparing to sneeze , laugh , cough.

Grey eyebrow hairs.

Pubes sprouting on upper inner thighs.

Random hairs sprouting on chin.

Looking forward to taking my bra off.
