Do you have anything for your kitchen window?

Was pondering this and wondered if anyone has anything for there kitchen window?
Like blinds, nets, curtains or just left as it is.

When I moved in I had a blind for my window but DP broke it when we redecorated and I never replaced it.
That was only because from most angles outside you can't really see in so don't need proper privacy.

But we are redecorating again and might buy something to put there this time.
So just wondered what do people use?

A roller blind, simple one in grey and white design.
Nets are hideous 😂 and curtains in a kitchen window (assuming it's over the sink/not a full height one) would probably look odd.

Clutterbugsmum · 22/08/2018 15:01

A roller blind to block out the sun, which at certain times of the year come through just at the right height to blind shortarses me.

I don't really need anything as my kitchen window is further back the the porch, and I have a magnolia tree and no one over looks us.

Can you please tell me what you have at your kitchen window, at the moment I have vertical blinds, but somehow the window doesn't look dressed iyswim.

Roman blind in the same fabric as the curtains on the doors to the conservatory. We’re not overlooked but the kitchen gets loads of sun, summer I drop the blind to stop the kitchen getting too hot and this time of year the suns low and blinds me Xmas Grin

ItsNovemberNotChristmas · 18/12/2019 18:25

Vertical blinds are awful and have no place in the home, they are just about acceptable in an office. A simple roller blind, Roman blind or wooden slatted blind would look so much better

ReginaGeorgeous · 18/12/2019 18:29

I don't have anything on my kitchen window but it looks out onto my back garden which is not overlooked.

beachcomber70 · 18/12/2019 18:46

Nothing here either, not overlooked and have a lovely view of the garden.

Katinski · 18/12/2019 19:08

Cafe nets only.
But I really thought the q.was about xmas decs?Confused, so i've got a little silver and white xmas tree on the window ledge and some other random xmas things we pick up on the waySmile

I have wooden slat blinds, I think they look unfinished on the window but the guy who installed them said it was what most people had. I have warmed to them now actually. I couldn’t have a bare window but my kitchen is at the front of the house.

Thank you so much!

I have a roller blind that is always half down. Not because of privacy but because when the sun moves round in the afternoon it blinds me, especially when it's setting.

I’m an interior designer and for kitchen projects I usually install roman blinds, I think they’re great to dress the window, even if they’re not going to be used. If you fix to outside the recess you won’t block as much light either!

halocompanach · 26/12/2019 22:24

No but I wish we had, I hate being able to see outside when it's dark even though nobody can see in.

Lynsib · 26/12/2019 22:47

BF888 does that also work in a modern kitchen?

BF888 · 26/12/2019 23:35

@Lynsib yes it works in modern kitchens too! It comes down to fabric choice, if it’s purely decorative an option could be an unlined sheer blind, I think these look fab in more of a modern setting.

FrogFairy · 27/12/2019 01:23

I have vertical blinds, I need them for privacy as there are two windows in full view of passers by (one window around 4ft wide, the other 8 ft wide) I would love something nicer but am a bit stumped what to choose that would both give me privacy and be easy to clean as the blind behind the sink gets splashed.

I would love shutters but they would get in the way when folded back.

Lynsib · 27/12/2019 07:48

Thank you.

fiorentina · 27/12/2019 07:51

Shutters. We are v pleased with them.
