Why why why is the shampoo bottle bigger than the conditioner?

I wonder about this every time I wash my hair, I only need a small amount of shampoo on my long thick hair as it lathers up. I need a big handful of conditioner though! I know it's not all of them but the ones I like seem to do this!
Any ideas?

Agree with you, OP. I use a blob of shampoo on my long hair - lather it up on my scalp and then spread it down to the rest of my hair - but I use loads of conditioner.

DD (thick, curly hair) needs about a fistful of conditioner on her hair, too.

Currently in Spain on holiday and the bottle size ratios are even worse. Huge bottles of shampoo, a litre or more. Tiny little bottles of conditioner that last 4 or 5 washes. Grrrrr.

I always need more conditioner- you're only supposed to shampoo your actual scalp, not rub a load of it into the lengths of your hair. For me the ideal ratio would be a shampoo bottle half the size of the conditioner.

I use 2 bottles of shampoo to every 1 of conditioner! I only use a tiny bit of conditioner on the ends, my hair doesn’t need any more than that.

I always use more conditioner than shampoo and used to buy two bottles for every one of shampoo. When my husband moved in it balanced it out as he only uses the shampoo.
Now I only need to buy one of each but I do avoid brands where the conditioner is smaller

I get my shampoo and conditioner from Amazon on subscription. Conditioner once a month (skipping one a couple times a year) and shampoo every six months (and that's too frequent but the maximum).

I've got thick, shoulder length, curly hair. I need bucketfuls of conditioner to be able to untangle it but it only just about starts getting greasy after about a week.

Thick, straight, greasy hair here - I often shampoo twice and don't always condition. If my hair's getting dry at the ends I prefer a hair mask before shampooing. My conditioner lasts forever!

I rarely use the same brand for both though - my hair likes different shampoos and conditioners and I mix it up a lot.
