Tips for Copenhagen with kids

Anyone got any tips for going to Copenhagen with kids?

I don't mind factoring in some budget but keeping costs cheap to moderate would be great.

Am taking DS (6) and DD (5) on my own :)

Many thanks

We enjoyed the workers museum - there were things there for my 4 year old (although he is easily pleased!) and ate in the restaurant for lunch which was lovely (war fish was gorgeous).

Tivoli gardens is a must! Buy the Copenhagen tourist card for free entry, it also covers a free ferry tour and lots of other perks. We had a fabulous time there with similar aged D.C.

If you have time you could hire a car and drive out to Legoland for a couple of days as part of your trip.

Second the recommendation for the Tivoli gardens. My children were younger when we went so mostly played in the play parks but lots of rides for 5 years +. Copenhagen Street Food was fun and so much choice for fussy kids.
We also did a river cruise leaving from Nyhavn. There’s a Lego shop on the main shopping street Stroget (sp?). Have a great time!

Hot dogs! There are loads of stands selling hot dogs and they're amazing.

PS is it super expensive to eat out there? what are we talking for a cheapish lunch in cafe etc?

Another one recommending Tivoli, I’d go early and have a picnic there, it is a lovely place. My kids really loved Experimentarium which is similar to the science museum with brilliant activities for kids, and the zoo is beautiful too. Food is definitely more expensive there ( everything is!), I think a simple coffee was around £4. Bakeries are great though, so maybe get sandwiches for lunch rather than buying from restaurants?

There's a big indoor market at Torvehallerne in the city centre which has lots of lunch options. Also there is a swimming/diving pool area in one of the canals close to the city centre. We used a bus pass system on my phone for public transport, it was very reasonable and you could use the water bus instead of paying for sightseeing cruises, which was handy.
