Birthday gift for 5yo boy who has EVERYTHING

I need gift ideas for GPs to give my DS, who is turning 5 next month. Budget up to around £100. DS is the youngest of three so we’ve accumulated lots of stuff over the years. GPs won’t like a money gift and an experience gift won’t work as GPs live far away and aren’t brilliant about taking the kids out. DS isn’t into crafts and we have no space for more enormous toys. He has asked for a particular Lego set, which he is getting from the other GPs, and a Playmobil set which is coming from his cousins. DH and I have gotten him a new bike.

Some of the things DS already has: a bike, a scooter, sports kit, a remote control dune buggy, plenty of board games, a few big Bruder trucks, a VTech watch, a Kindle Fire, and bins and bins of small cars, trains/tracks, Playmobil, Lego, and Magnatiles. Yes he is spoilt but only because he has three boys’ worth of Christmas and bday gifts at his disposal.

I’d love any suggestions!

Do u have room in garden for a trampoline if haven't got one already? Could they not pay for your family to go on a day out to a theme park or zoo. I know they wouldn't be there to enjoy but your son would?

Possibly more of a Christmas gift but my PIL bought the children annual zoo passes. They don't live anywhere near us so they weren't passes for them to use with the children, but we go there loads now and send them photos of the kids while we're out. We obviously had to buy ours to go with them, but it's been a great gift.

I would be honest and say you have loads of toys already. Might they consider paying into a children's stocks and shares ISA or similar rather than just putting cash in an envelope? Issue might be the other children though if they don't have savings.

Alternatively thin out existing toys to charity shop/sell and get some new ones from GPs?

Or new bedding? Telling the Time clock for his room? Replace a tired item of bedroom furniture (new toy box?).

We had a climbing frame one Christmas for both children from both sets of GPs and us. Was an excellent joint gift that they both can use (at the same time!).

I have a similar dilemma due to MIL buying my children new expensive toys every other week. I’ve just ordered them a really cute working piggy bank each where the animal’s paw comes out and grabs the coin.

I wonder if you need to think of other things that have a practical basis but you can find a fun version (if that makes sense)

We've also done new accessories for hand-me-down electronics. So DS had DD's old LeapPad and family got him a new case, a little bag to put it in, some new games and some child friendly headphones. So although the LeapPad is old, he's had some new stuff to go with it to make it a little different to when it was DD's.

Experience gift is the way forward - but you take him so you are not relying on them - many of the "buyagift" type things would work really well....

I'd go for clothes - Lego brand or something which he'd actually like and I might not normally shell out for. My 7 year old boy can get excited about a Lego Ninjago hoodie... You could easily spend £100 on 3-4 items, and it's actually useful.

A penny pusher with a bag of real penny's (real penny's work better than the plastic ones that come with) plus some small toys to put in it eg. Lego men, rubbers, micro cars, bouncy balls.

Penny pushers new on eBay for about £40. Just looking for my DS for Xmas.
