Do you feel safe in your own home/area/city etc?

I am a lone parent of a severely disabled adult child. I live alone and rarely have visitors. I sometimes wonder if we are being watched and a nasty man will get I to my house and murder us.

I only think like this after watching myrder/missing cases on YouTube really.

I live in a big city but the darkness of the countryside is scary. Surely it us better for the murderers to hang out there?

I’m not a fan of the dark or the countryside. I’m a city girl no camping in the wilds for me.

Hey, the countryside is great - nothing bad ever happens here. I live in a rural village and feel fine all the time, even when DH is away.
A friend of mine never locks her door except when she goes on holiday. Not even overnight!

Crime rates much lower in the countryside so go figure...

I live in a rural area and feel very safe. Wouldn’t deliberately leave doors unlocked but often forget Blush , but have neighbours who don’t lock their houses when they go out. I leave ground floor windows that face the street open when I go out.

Living in a small community means any dodgy characters stick out like a sore thumb and everyone looks out for each other. The downside is little privacy and gossips Grin

Here in rural US we don’t lock our door when we go on holiday. The postman will let himself in and leave the mail on the kitchen table.

I do but I was looking at houses in the country side and was convinced I'd be murdered in the first week. I'm sure it's perfectly safe and just not what I'm used to. some of the houses did look nice so maybe.

People who don't lock your doors if you were burgled how would you feel? Confused

Even if I lived in the safest place in the world I'd still lock my door. It only takes one time.

Yep unlocked doors is Russian roulette. Your home insurance wouldn't pay out. Same for windows left open when you go out.

I'm semi-rural.

The biggest "headline" we've had in the local press this year is "woman in uneven pavement horror" Grin

But then I also feel safe at night in Bradford/Leeds/Manchester/Liverpool.

The only place I've ever felt uncomfortable was parts of London

Probably the same as you
