The aquarium at the science park is awesome. Theres l'oceanografic submarino restaurant there where you can eat "underwater" in a shark tank which im sure the children would love. You do need to book in advance
The beach is really nice too with lots of beachfront restaurants, by it theres a marina which was built for the americas cup about 15 years ago. Its about 15mins on a bus from the city.
Valencia also has a bullring and i believe it has shows where killing the bull is not the aim
Valencia is amazing. I hope you have a great trip

Buy your Oceanográfic tickets online on your phone and just show your phone at the barrier to save queuing. Avoid theunderwater restaurant - by all means walk down and take a photo but the service is really awful, the food is overpriced and not very good. Also if you can get to a Consum supermarket, buy Tosta Rica biscuits, they have free entry tickets for the Oceanografic which saves you an absolute fortune

GirlInTheDirtyShirt · 20/08/2018 11:43

I've just looked at the promotion and this year it's one free child entry you get from the biscuit coupon if you buy two adult entries: www.oceanix.es/oceanografic/uploads/info.pdf

Also, go to the Science Museum (15 minute walk from the Oceanografic - you can buy joint tickets to save yourself a bit of money), and at the ticket desk book the space simulator. It's about €2 a person and really worth it.

Other cool stuff to do: go to l'Albufera (you can get a bus there - the number 25 bus from Cerdà de Tallada near Colon metro - it takes 30 minutes and costs €1.50) - l'Albufera is a big lake and you can hire a man in a boat to row you across it. Plus, the best paellas are found in El Palmar, which is a little village near there - any restaurant will do, they're all great.

Back at the city, the best food on the city seafront is at Gabbeach, avoid Portolito because it's crap. There's a little Ale Hop shop just a bit further down to buy random bits of cute tat that kids like. Having said that, Patacona beach is nicer and less crowded than the city beach - it's two beaches' walk north. You can hire bikes - the whole city is flat and bikeable, we have a lot of bike lanes.

If you let me know what kind of thing you're into, I can tell you more things to do. I'm a local :)

I now really want to go to Valencia!

GirlInTheDirtyShirt Thank you, this is amazing! Okay and since you offered... where is nice to eat with kids in the city? I'm vegan but it doesn't need to be vegan, I'm quite happy with bread and beer Wink. DH really likes looking around churches and the like, so also suggestions there would be great.

Federal Café is nice to go to with kids - it’s Australian brunchy type food. There are gazillions of vegan restaurants - Vurger is good as is Copenhagen. The main cathedral in the centre has the actual Holy Grail (allegedly...) as well as loads of bits of dead saints
