Slowly going insane

(Please note this is lighthearted and I love my son to pieces)

My son is 3 and has development delay and currently being assessed for dispraxia. He has very limited language, he has a few “sounds” that he uses for words but no clear words. Recently he has developed a new “bee” sound which after a lot of detective work we have discovered is him saying “sheep” and means he wants us to sing baa baa black/white/any colour of the rainbow sheep.

When we start singing this he gets very excited and tries to sing along. This is the first time he has ever tried to put two or more words together so it’s a big achievement for him (although it is completely undeciferable when he “sings”).

This means, that to encourage this increased speech, I have been singing it over and over and over again. I must have sung it 100 times today. He is in bed, asleep now and the blasted song is still going round my head.

I have tried singing other songs but he just keeps asking for “bee”. I am going to go insane if I have to sing it again but on the flip side I am so proud of my little boy.

It's lovely he can ask for what he wants and enjoys singing along! Baa baa is a favourite with my 2 year old as well, and I must have sung it endless times too.
