Pc/laptop to play games

Dc has requested a pc/laptop to play games online e.g. Fortnite for christmas. However now i have looked into it these seem really expensive!

Does anyone or their dc play games on a lower cost pc/laptop that they would recommend?

Ideally dont want to play over £300

£300 is very low for a gaming pc but I don't think fortnite really needs a specifically gaming pc.

I get mine from pc specialist, their cheapest pre-built laptop is £380.

You can probably get cheaper elsewhere but it will be designed for general use rather than gaming

Reluctant to spend more as tbh i am not site how much he will use it
Personally i don't know why he wants it when he has a games console already ...

I might just show him the prices it may put him off

Is it just fortnite? You can play that on tablets now, cheaper and more portable.

I got a reconditioned laptop. On Amazon actually. It's absolutely fine

You need a processor to power the game. That is why the lap tops are more expensive. An intel 5 minimum.
Anything less simply wont cut it.

I spent £280 I think. DD put £100 in from her birthday and Christmas pot.

This helped me enormously

If he's watching YouTube videos about it they might look down on android/ios versions.

I play on a decent ish (general use ) laptop with 6gb ram and an Intel i5 processor.
Ds2 plays on ps4.
My experience is much more laggy and frustrating.

But pc is thought of as the superior format if you have a very expensive set-up.

Yes he does watch youtube so i bet that is where its come from

You almost surely won't can get a laptop worth shit for gaming for £300 and it's a difficult price for a desktop.

If it's something your DC really wants, they'll probably be better putting all their Christmas money and their own savings together to get something worthwhile. And then they should think - would they rather have that, or other stuff for x hundred pounds?

PC gaming can be cheaper in the long run because the games are regularly discounted, and some games are better or only on PC, but it's hard to start off cheap.
