Foreign language learning abstract for a conference

Hi, I have asked to speak about learning foreign languages with the A visual impairments at a conference later on this year. I am trying to write my abstract. If I ride along the lines of.

Teaching for languages to blind and visually impaired students is an important part of the curriculum. Adopting materials and making use of technology and other ideas can help visually impaired to increase their knowledge of foreign languages. Additional line languages can not only lead to more cultural awareness, good memorization, but it can also lead to increased job perspectives in a global economy.

Can you tell me where I need to fix this please. Does that make sense?

Hi hellokitty, I’ve just seen this! A few comments:

Should the second word be ‘foreign’?
Should ‘adopting’ be ‘adapting’?
‘Other ideas’ is too vague.
‘...help visually impaired to’ is missing the word ‘students’ after ‘visually impaired’.
Not sure what ‘additional line languages’ means.
I would rewrite the remainder of the last sentence as ‘...can not only lead to greater cultural awareness and good memorisation, but also increased job opportunities in a global economy.’

These are the main proofreading issues that jump out at me. In terms of content I think you need to be a lot more specific about the strategies or interventions you are employing, how you are measuring the outcomes and any particular results or achievements so far. For example, if you have conducted surveys of your service users you could use that e.g. 46% of the cohort reported increased confidence in communication, or whatever.

I agree with the poster above. Who is your audience for this?

Hi, thank you, I will work on this today and tomorrow. The audiences for teachers of the visually impaired and an audience who is also most likely to be visually impaired. This will be in the Philippines.
