We need something to look forward to after a rocky time of late.

I’m thinking Euro Disney in October but I don’t know where to begin! Never been to Disney or anthing similar.

Relevant info...
My children are 8 and 5.
I receive 40% off adult euro tunnel tickets
Hoping 2 nights would be sufficient?
Is it worth going to even if you’re not a family big on rides?

Many thanks

Definitely worth it even if not big on rides.

There are lots of tame rides, shows, parades, fireworks etc.

NonJeNeRegretteRien · 18/08/2018 14:57

Lovely age to take your children. Don’t worry too much about the rides, there is plenty to enjoy, but the stuff for littler visitors is actually really enjoyable.

2 nights will be perfect when you think a lot of people go for just the day.

Have fun!

ChocolateDoll · 18/08/2018 15:01

Eurotunnel is priced per car, no?

How far from Folkestone are you? Driving is by far the cheapest way to get there.

We went when our DC were even younger rather than a Disney hotel we found a hotel in Val d’Europe it’s one very easy train stop away and significantly cheaper.

ZanyMobster · 18/08/2018 15:08

Definitely good even if you're not into rides, there are loads of smaller rides and script very few big ones. Great age to go, we usually do 4 nights as like to take it easy and don't get up mega early but if you plan well 2 nights will be fine. The disney hotels are 3 or 4 nights for the price of 2 usually so not any more expensive for longer (but obv spending money is).
We have stayed in Sequoia Lodge, New York and Newport Bay. All fine and quick access to the park.

Food is expensive, we always take bread sticks, crisps, sweets and those mini extra concentrate squash bottles as there are water fountains everywhere for snacks.

It's totally fabulous, I love it there, I am even planning a ladies only trip there next year Grin

ZanyMobster · 18/08/2018 15:08

Eurostar dead easy and worth it if it's 40% off, passenger train goes straight into the resort.

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 18/08/2018 15:09

We just came back. Got an airb place to stay.

One thing. Food is expensive. But there is somewhere to picnic. I couldn’t take food as it was left in the car and it was boiling Envy but that time of year you should be fine. As an example my mil bought us all lunch. Which was in a diner place. Four burgers and drinks came to over 60 euros. There are cheaper places. But even the ice creams were 4.50 euros.

But it is a fab place to go. And some of the shows to watch do special showings in English not just French so check the times.

I would also check each ride out first. I went on one on a fast pass l. If I had queued an hour for it I would have been upset.

But it’s a wonderful place. The parades are fab.

Lululemonade · 18/08/2018 15:28

It is a great place for kids of all ages. Even if you don’t like rides it is magical, I am sure your dc would love it....
download the app as it gives you queue times for each ride.
Food is not the best and v expensive so take snacks with you. We also ate in the Disney village as there are well know chains (McDonald’s, Starbucks and 5 guys) so much cheaper and you know what you are getting

Feltcushion · 18/08/2018 15:49

We went when our DC were even younger rather than a Disney hotel we found a hotel in Val d’Europe it’s one very easy train stop away and significantly cheaper.

We did that once, had stayed in disney hotels a few times before and off site was fine. Stayed longer for less money and went into paris by train 1 day, supermarket and shopping centre next door.

Make sure that you have enough time on each day to get good value (so look at when you arrive and leave). The trains start very early, I think you can leave bags at the park (check)

Look on line for euro-tunnel and play around to get best prices but half term will be more pricey.

You may find a package with park tickets cheaper that doing it as hotel and passes

Dilemmacentral · 18/08/2018 17:59

Do they still do that thing where you can dump your bags as soon as you arrive and go straight to the park?

Purplejay · 18/08/2018 22:11

Do it! I took DS on my own when he was about 8. Got a cracking deal s we went in Feb when our half term was different to most and kids under 12 were free. Stayed at disney hotel so transportation to parcs was included. We live in the midlands so flew. Shuttle from airport and over night in a hotel nearby which also ran buses to the park. It meant we didn’t loose to much time on our park days. We stayed 4 nights.

If not fussed about rides, even the tame ones are magical. Its a small world etc. The characters, parades etc are fab. We did the buffalo bill show. Huge fun.

SchrodingersMeowth · 18/08/2018 22:27

We’ve been a lot.

You will still love it even if you don’t like big rides, as already said, the rides meant for smaller ones are totally magical (peter pans flight is the best!) and we love big rides but the place really does make you feel like a kid 😂

Make sure to check out the dragon under the castle in a cave.

Stay in Val D’Europe Honestly, it takes about 2 minutes to get to Disney by train (no walking after you get off, it stops in the resort, I imagine this is about where the Eurostar thing is too, so well connected)

Hotel Relais Spa is very close and has a private shuttle van that you can just ask for whenever you like and they pick you up from the park whenever you phone them.

It’s as cheap to get a taxi than get the shuttle bus if there are at at least about 3 people, but book the “taxi shuttle/navette) before you go. Easy to do online.

It’s also right beside the supermarket (massive), a sea life centre and a designer outlet (the outlet is a bit fancy but I’ve had absolute bargains in super dry for things that are actually useful!)

Don’t eat in Disney, the prices are insane, you’re allowed to take food in or there is a McDonald’s in the resort and also “Earl of Sandwhich) which is also pretty cheap and very good.

Take refillable water bottles as there is fountains and bottled water is 3 euros

Try and look for the “hidden mickeys” as a bit of a game for the kids while you’re trying to navigate the park, keeps them busy!

SchrodingersMeowth · 18/08/2018 22:30

Sorry about the taxi shuttle, forgot you’re getting the Eurostar!

chocolateworshipper · 19/08/2018 10:19

If you're on Facebook, check out the "Disneyland Paris for Brits" page - there are loads of people on there who will gladly give you advice. 2 nights will be plenty. There are lovely gentle rides - like Buzz Lightyear, Peter Pan, It's A Small World, and also the stunt show in the Studios is well worth seeing. The parades are amazing too. To keep food cheap, you can get very reasonable priced sandwiches and drinks from the train station (right outside the park). You can take water bottles and fill them up from the water fountains around the park. For dinner, there is a McDonalds and the food from the sports bar is also very reasonable.

I took DD in Feb half term, if you can wait that long it was a nice time to go especially after a grey winter. It was kids stay, play and eat free + 2 nights free, I paid for the premium meal plan and made our evening meals character ones which meant we didn't waste time in ques waiting to see characters the rest of the time.

We stayed in the Disney Sante fe which was fine and got 2 days of breakfasts in the park so went on rides early then had breakfast when the gates had opened. Like many people we stocked up on rolls, ham and cheese and other lunch stuff and then just found a big ride with a que to eat our lunch in by the tme we finished we were at the front or ate whilst watching the Cars show.

Whilst it was a bit chilly in Feb we brought ski wear from trespass which was cheap enough and was too warm if anything but being Feb half term meant there were barely any ques and many rides you could walk on.

There is plenty to do even if you don't like rides, you can hire big pushchairs which Ithink are worth it, it's a long day for little legs, unfortunately DD was ill when we went so it was brilliant as she could sleep in it even though she was much too big for a normal pushchair.
