How easy is it to check air and inflate car tyres at a supermarket garage?

Don't want to look like a prat or even worse for some bloke to come over and offer 'help'. Are there instructions on the machine? Is it straightforward?

I always go to Sainburys as it has free air, so you can take as long as you need without worrying about feeling pressured! (well unless there is a queue).

I had a pressure light come on recently, new (to me) car, so I'd never had one before and also didn't know that you have to reset it. I have now, though I hope it wasn't too long after I'd filled the tyres. (It doesn't just reset the warning light, but resets the sensor so the pressure the tyres are now the 'correct' pressures).

I didn't know the machines were inaccurate though, and have never checked my tyres on my own elsewhere

I’m 49. I’ve owned my own car since age of 18
I cannot do it. I just can’t. It infuriates dh so much! All I can do is let air out. It’s the angle or I don’t know. Cack handed

I also struggle to get diesel/petrol in the car - the car can be empty and fuel will plop out of the hole
I’m really short so again blaming the angle

If you are buying a pump for home get a double barrel one. It's so.such easier . It's a good workout!
