Partial Denture advice needed

Hi I had an accident in the bath on 14th July. I slipped and badly fractured both top front teeth. I was rushed by my husband to my dentist where they were splintered in using wires at the back.
I have been told they are both dead and I am having them taken out on 23rd August.
I am so scared of:
a) having the teeth out
b) having an acrylic partial denture

Is there anyone here wearing a partial denture that can share their experience with me please.
Thanks Jill x

I also broke my front teeth some years ago and have a partial denture. I guess technology has moved on a bit since then, and it depends on what you want to pay as to what you can have! If money is no object then implants would be the way to go, if it's NHS then a denture. Only your dentist can really give you the information you need - good luck and don't worry!

I have a partial denture after being hit in the face by something thrown off a bridge on to my car, l could of died l am glad l only have teeth missing to show for it.

It was hard at first and l was very self conscious about it and it took a while to get used to it but after two weeks l could click it with out thinking about it. Luckily my front teeth were saved as l turned my face l have teeth missing from my fang 4 teeth back.

I am savinging for implants but life keeps getting in the way. It’s been 12 years.

Hi ginghamstarfish
Do you sleep with your partial in?

Hi Jill - I can sleep with it in, and sometimes do but generally I think you shouldn't, but again ask your dentist. If you're worried about your DH seeing you without it, maybe best to just get it over with, discuss it, and then you can just remove it discreetly before you go to sleep.

Forgot to say re implants some folks go abroad for this as it can be much cheaper.

I've had partial top dentures since I was 18 years old (for reasons I'd rather not go into). I'm now 56 and no one has any idea, except my close family, that they are dentures.

I don't take them out overnight, I've always slept in them. I take them out to wash them morning and night, then they go straight back in.

They will colour match the dentures to your own teeth and I'd be very surprised if anyone even notices that they are not your own.
