Dog bite reported under Dangerous Dogs Act - what happens next?

I posted about ds being bitten by a dog and when we went to get a tetanus injection, the nurse informed us she has a duty to report it under the Dangerous Dogs Act as the breed is one of those listed.
Whilst I feel awful the dog bit ds, I do feel responsible as we entered their land without prior warning and worried about the ramifications of the incident. Does anyone know what will happen to the dog &/or owners?

We don't intend on pressing charges but guess the t might be out of of our hands now. Owner knows it's been reported but as it only happened yesterday not heard anything since. Can anyone advise?

Our Jack Russell cross was reported when it bit an elderly woman. It was a puppy; we were right there but didn't see the incident.

We were totally mortified. The police came to see us, looked at the dog, asked us lots of questions and recommended we get in touch with a behaviourist straight away so that they and the other person could see we were doing something about it. They said she didn't want to press charges as she realised he was very young.

We did that and had a specialist come to the house that week. It turned out to be quite complicated and due to separation anxiety and protecting us. The chap was ex police and ran a training course which we signed up for and completed.

Police contacted us later to say they wouldn't be taking any further action but if he bit anyone else they would prosecute.
