Eaten poo!

Ok MNetters, please try not to judge...

My 18 month old just went into the garden (with me right behind her) reaches down and picked up what was undeniably, a huge lump of bird poop... and it went straight in her mouth. Couldn't tell if she swallowed it.

Now absolutely freaking out. Have tried to rinse her mouth and have washed her hands thoroughly. Is there anything else I can do? Confused

Ring 101 for medical advice.

Lightsong · 15/08/2018 15:55

I would ring 111 and see what they say.

Not your fault, babies are just gross!

HoleyCoMoley · 15/08/2018 15:56

Yes 111, 101 is the police, sorry.

Ring 111, and rest easy in the knowledge that some of us have had to phone after accidentally letting a 4 month old suck the fluffy end of a paintbrush for a good 5 minutes before some of us realised it was still covered in black Indian Ink (he was fine, by the way. If a little grey around the mouth and chin.)

Kenworthington · 15/08/2018 15:59

Ring 111??? Seriously. Just rinse out her mouth fgs. Ds2 ate his OWN bloody poo when he was that age and nothing whatsoever Happened

MeMyselfand · 15/08/2018 16:02

I'm sure she will be fine. Kids put all sorts of crap Grin in their mouths and dirt from their hands also going into their mouths. It will be a good embarrassing story to tell her when she's older

MrsMyreton · 15/08/2018 16:03

Thank you. Grabbed it out her hand and tried to rinse her mouth as best as I could but very difficult. She's completely not bothered and now sipping water watching Hey Duggy. I, however, am traumatised and will be on edge for the next few days. WineWineWine

Keep an eye out for worms...

DidimusStench · 15/08/2018 16:06

Ring 111? Naaahh. What would an HCP actually do? Poo is nasty yes but not poisonous.

FWIW I’m pretty sure my older DD has eaten worse. I’m certain I have too...

SleightOfMind · 15/08/2018 16:08

One of my DTs went through a stage of eating goose poo whenever we went to feed the ducks.
It was awful, we’d watch him like a hawk but he was so quick.

He’s absolutely fine and ill much less often than my others.

Babies are gross.

madeyemoodysmum · 15/08/2018 16:08

Bird poo is pretty harmless tbh. I know a toddler who ate dog poo Grin

MrsMyreton · 15/08/2018 16:26

Thanks everyone. Have googled the life out of it and it's a waiting game. Will be keeping my fingers crossed...

I grew up on a farm and was defined not supervised as much as DD is... I must have eaten worse!!!

One of mine ate Fox poo. Not on my watch (thank you, dm). He was fine. He’s also eaten his own shite as a baby.

Anonymumm · 15/08/2018 17:40

Apparently I was caught eating earth worms as a child's, then had a tantrum when I was dragged away from them.

One of my first memories is also crunching on a dead fly that I found in the living room.

Thankfully, my pallete is somewhat more sophisticated these days - ha, ha!

MrsMyreton · 19/08/2018 18:44

For anyone having sleepless nights over the outcome of this ... Wink

DD came to no harm whatsoever. Blush
