Am I going to get fat(ter) if I get a Kitchen Aid?

New kitchen, soon an island that I have wanted for years and finally my dreams of becoming Nigella and Mary Berry will not be realised.

I've seen that Kitchen Aid now do a smaller version and I'm tempted but am I going to pack on the lbs due to lack of cake tasting willpower or will the novelty wear off pretty soon and I shouldn't bother with one at all?

I love my kitchenaid and to be honest I did over do it with the cake for the first few months. I’ve had it nearly a year now and while it still gets plenty of use it’s a weekly cake or biscuits now rather than an endless supply. I’d definitely recommend it though, I’ve made lively bread in it and we have homemade pizza fairly often now too as it’s so quick.

I am the proud owner of both island and Kitchenaid and I haven't been over run with cakey loveliness!

The Island unit is usually the entertainment station when people come round. Many, many hours of drinking has happened there!

The Kitchenaid does get used, but I don't generally eat a lot of cake! I'm more a maker for other people. I do have the mincer attachment though, which does get used.

It's a beautiful thing to look at from a far too, so I'm happy!Grin

maureen my kitchenaid is the most cleaned thing in my house, it’s lovely to polish and look at Blush

I love my Kitchen Aid. It was a divorce present to myself 8 years ago and is much used and cherished by myself and dc. It is used a lot but we're all pretty active and I guess I burn off the extra calories in the gym. You won't regret it. It is one of my favourite things and still makes me smile when I use it.

QueenOfIce · 15/08/2018 11:40

Does it come with a gym membership? Grin what else can you make apart from cakes and bread?

Pizza dough, meringues, biscuits, more pizza dough Grin The best thing I made was a Paul Hollywood recipe for a loaf stuffed with cheese and apple - it didn’t even last long enough to cool down Blush

Sadly no gym membership....that was part of self re-invention post divorce!
I second the meringues and it makes the most amazing light sponge cakes. I also use mine to make butter icing.

You can do tons of things with it! It's not just for baked goods. You can buy all manner of attachments for pasta or mincing or ice cream making even! The list is extensive, but expensive as you can imagine.

I got mine for my 50th birthday. Anyone who asked, got me a voucher for the local shopping centre and I spend them all on a Kitchenaid.

It really is lovely to look at. I still look at all the other colours thou and still get a bit of envy. My colleague has just bought a Matt grey one, it looks stunning. I've got black onyx, so it sparkles. It's lovely to look at - have I mentioned that?WinkGrin

@serbska annoying as Paul Hollywood is I do love his bread recipes Grin

QueenOfIce · 15/08/2018 17:51

Right so unless I staple my mouth the answer is yes. Grin
