Joking on the school contact form...

Kids went back on Monday, had a plethora of forms to fill out on Monday evening including one with all contact details etc etc. Received another form yesterday asking for emergency contact details again and other info such as Allergies and Good to Know. DH wrote Maths under the allergies section. I have to hand it in today.

FWIW, there have been issues with maths. DS ASD/ADHD, dyspraxia, had to repeat the first year because he couldn't keep up and passed everything in the repeat year except for maths. He HATES maths, and basically doesn't understand it or see the point of it.

DH reckons the school (DS's teacher at least) has a sense of humour. Should I add an exclamation mark after the maths?

But if I cross it out, you'd still see it! I don't have tippex. Could lose it or make my own and send it in tomorrow.

Don’t leave it on there. The school will have so many forms to process and even with a sense of humour it’s just an unnecessary thing and will get you an eye roll. I see this akin to pupils writing joke answers in test papers and it’s just annoying.

Don’t leave it on. It makes you look like knobs.

I would cross it out. Don’t worry about them being able to see it, they will find it funny but if you don’t cross it out it could mean them contacting you to check there isn’t a misunderstanding!

Having worked in a school office I can tell you it would have given us a good giggle. Probably best to asterisk it and enclose a note to say your DS got hold of it, it's obviously a joke and he has no allergies.

Well, I chickened out and didn't send him in with it as he left at 7. Will print one today and he can take it tomorrow. Problem is there is so much friction between the school and us atm that although his teacher would probably find it funny, I don't know if she is the one who deals with the forms. And I don't need rolled eyes at me right now.

Teacher won't deal with the forms. At best they'll think you're weird. At worst you'll get a phone call asking you to clarify this allergy. If a kid had a misspelt allergy (meths??) On their form and then went into anaphylactic shock then the school would be in deep trouble. My friend took a kid on a school trip and he had an allergic reaction to something and it was the worst moment of his career. Imagine looking after somebody else's child and being unsure if they had an allergy to an unknown substance.
