Sore bum after swimming???

Hi

So, for the 3rd holiday running my DD has been complaining about a sore bum (anus). All holidays in different places (1 abroad, 2 in UK). The only thing I can think is that she has spent a lot of time in the swimming pool each time - could this affect her bum? Maybe the chlorine?

It always seems worse in the evening and lasts about 3 days. There is no redness or any signs of soreness at all (she says it is the outside but that hurts)

Thanks x

Worms?

HuntIdeas · 14/08/2018 22:43

I’m sure it’s not worms. I’ve checked thoroughly each time and there’s never any signs, plus no other family members affected. It just goes by itself after a few days

Also, the last holiday was 3 months ago and the one before that was at Christmas so I don’t think worms would have hung around silently since then

My cure it all for bottom discomfort for my DD is a bit of canesten. Could more likely be sitting around in damp bathers as chlorine/swimming etc

Yes chlorine can irritate the skin around the anus. How about a barrier type ointment before swimming? Vaseline? Sudocreme?

Thanks for the ideas. I’ll try barrier cream before swimming and having caneston ready for afterwards just in case

Where are you holidaying? Could it be the change in diet causing constipation pain?

MissTulipan · 14/08/2018 23:11

Sudocrem is otherwise known as bum cream in my house. Great stuff

Sand?

Narwhal?

Its the chafing from the water. My DD (swimmer) gets this after a competition where she's been sat in a damp suit for long periods. Sudocrem is your friend here
