Does this contravene GDPR?

I'm renting a house but the landlord has recently sold it. I "allowed" photos to be taken by the estate agent, and there were three viewings. I found out it was sold when the sign was put up Hmm so understandably I'm not a happy bunny about not being kept in the loop as a matter of courtesy.

Now I'm getting phone calls from the buyers' surveyors wanting to come and do their bit. They were given my number by the estate agent - without so much as a by-your-leave. I have suggested to EA that they are contravening GDPR only to be given some bullshit about the surveyors being part of their company.

Are they in the wrong to have given my name, address and number to the surveyors? I know it sounds petty but I'm not in the mood to be benevolent at the moment and four phone calls/voice mails/emails in one day is kind of infringing on my right to "quiet enjoyment" of my home especially when LL hasn't even bothered telling me the house is sold.

I'm not sure whether it convenes GDPR but I'd be really annoyed if my number was given out like that. Give the EA a piece of your mind and say you won't be taking calls from randoms you didn't give you number to.

Depends if you agreed to sharing of your details with relevant parties. Presumably you volunteered your number at some point.

I gave permission to the LL to pass it to the estate agent. I expected at the very least for them to check it would be ok to give it to anyone else., seeing as they are reliant on my goodwill to let the process continue.

I'd be really annoyed about that and yes I think it does contravene GDPR. Bloody estate agents and their ilk.

You may or may not have accidentally given your consent for this but under GDPR you can withdraw any consent at any time.

So write to all parties saying that you explicitly do not consent to receiving any phone calls from them or any other party in relation to the sale of the property. State that your phone number may only be used in the event of an emergency relating to your own tenancy. Assert your right to the quiet enjoyment of your home. You do not have to accommodate surveyors visits etc. Let them give you notice, move out and they can sort out all that nightmare without involving you in it. Why on earth should you care?
