Walking around on flights?

I fly in Business Class for long haul. Usually around 14 hour flights, and so like everyone, I have to stretch my legs once in a while. I like walking the whole plane, through business, premium economy and then through economy. In essence, a circuit of the plane.

Someone in prem econ muttered that I should stay in my seat and stay in my cabin! I'm sorry, but when I fly prem econ, there is nowhere near enough room in their tiny cabin to walk properly!

Is it wrong to walk from cabin to cabin etc, to try and avoid circulation problems?

No it's fine to walk around, you can't sit still for 14 hours. I would just ignore the person commenting.

It's fine, but not ok to walk around cabins higher than yours (e.g. First Class) Also, bear in mind people may be sleeping and foot steps can vibrate through the floor and seats.

If you want to walk around the plane and streach your legs then thats up to you.

You would be (on the whole) stopped from going into first, but walking around elsewhere is not a problem.

Just ignore the comments, I fly regularly and mostly in business and do the same thing but I am respectful and quiet if its lights out and passengers are sleeping.

Just a tale of a couple of flights ago. I guy came through from economy, helped himself to a couple of apples that were in the basket in business, then came back a little while later and took packets of crisps. He was seen by crew and got shot shift. Then had the cheek to come back again and want to use the loo as economy was busy. Again he was stopped. No pal you want those services, you pay for them like we are.

So he was cross at you for coming from a more expensive cabin? Confused or did he think you were coming from economy when he said it?

The first would be weird but the second understandable. I would tack on holidays to DHs work trips and I was happy to fly economy whilst he was elsewhere (paid by business) as it wasn’t our family holiday and it never bothers me.

I’d not feel it was ok to go up to him during the flight, to be honest the airline staff didn’t know the deal and must have felt sorry for me as when I’d do my walks of my class (through their area that seperated the classes) they’d offer me leftover crisps/juice/fruit!

I’ve always assumed that stretching legs meant walking to the loo or standing about in the bit by the galley or doors. I would get a bit irritated if I became aware that someone was doing circuits of the plane. Possibly irrational, but I think we might all be allowed to be a bit irrational when cooped up at 30,000 feet.

He was seen by crew and got shot

Admit he was cheeky but that was taking it a bit too far Grin

I think people should stick in their own cabins. Economy is cramped as it is without the people from the upper cabins strolling around

Honeyroar · 14/08/2018 09:35

It's a tough one, isn't it. It's good to stretch you legs, but better if you can do that in the galley.. Some people do walk round the plane, but imagine if all 200 (+) did. Generally you're allowed to walk down a class of cabin. On a night flight it isn't fair or safe to be walking around in any cabin. You should always be quiet, tread softly and think of the other people if you do walk round.

WilyMinx · 14/08/2018 09:46

I agree with sticking to your own cabin. The economy aisles are tiny and there's always a queue to the loos. Last thing they need is more people blocking up the aisles. I only ever fly in economy and if I need to stretch my legs, I just stand in the aisle by my seat, or walk on the spot.
