She’s 22. She has her favourite scent and bath stuff and makeup, so she doesn’t need anything like that. I don’t have a car today so I would rather it was online. She’s moving soon, so don’t really want to add to her “stuff”, but she needs a little boost and a “mum’s thinking about you” thing. Any ideas? About 15-20 quid. Oh, and she doesn’t drink!

What about a voucher for a salon to get her nails or lashes done?

RoseHarper · 13/08/2018 09:06

Does she read? Book/Magazines she might enjoy, some special food , chocs or savouries made into a little treat hamper?

BitOutOfPractice · 13/08/2018 09:07

whylie · 13/08/2018 09:09

What about a bracelet or a necklace?

ScarlettDarling · 13/08/2018 09:10

The brownie bar send boxes of your choice of brownies in the post. We've sent them as gifts before and they're always a huge success! I've got a voucher code for 10% off an online order if you're interested?

TheTimeThief · 13/08/2018 09:10

Could you get her an iTunes voucher or similar so she could choose some new music? A voucher for a beauty treatment or massage. Some lush bath stuff. An Amazon voucher for some new kindle books or to treat herself once she's moved. Take her out for afternoon tea somewhere?

Specifically moving house stuff, maybe a nice reed diffuser or something, because your new place always smells a bit 'funny'.

Or sometimes I just send mine some nice socks and a bar of chocolate, with a nice postcard expressing 'mum's thinking about you'.

AviatorShades · 13/08/2018 09:28

I really like the key ring idea, mentioned aboveSmile
Looking at my key ring rack in the kitchen, all my keys (house, garage, car, spares for them all) have been gifts from friends, and all are therefore special to me.

PhilODox · 13/08/2018 09:33

Tea! Wonderful tea to go with your teapot, ahem.

Or nice coffee if that's her bag.
New cups/mugs for her new place?

Stationery is always my fallback- lovely notebooks and pens/pencils.

HollowTalk · 13/08/2018 09:35

You could send her Graze boxes.

Or (bit more expensive) you could pay for a massage or a facial.

BertrandRussell · 13/08/2018 10:01

Thank you all-lovely ideas. Now to decide! I would usually send flowers- but on this occasion I think she might get that sudden lurch of irrational hope that they are from a complete bastard her ex, then be irrationally crushed that they are just from mum......

I recently received a coffee gift card and a new book from MIL after a tough few weeks. I thought it was a lovely surprise and thoughtful combination Smile

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 13/08/2018 10:34

Something that she can keep would be nice. Earnings or a bracket maybe? Does she like scarves?

Starisnotanumber · 13/08/2018 10:41

Macaroons from the English Rose Bakery are my go to. Beautifully packaged start at 10.00. Vegetarian not too many calories.Whats not to like.
Sorry can't link site

Stephisaur · 13/08/2018 10:54

Send her some Corkers from The Brownie Bar.

She will forget about any bastard exes ;) it's a brownie, stuffed in a cookie. Good times :)
