Am I going to lose my teeth??

My DH was playing with my kids on the bed.. I was laying trying to go to sleep, he knocked me, I fell off the edge and my daughter knocked the lamp in to my face.

(I’m already super pissed off.)

The lamp base is really hard. It’s chipped a whole section of my front tooth out.

(I’m crying. Please tell me this can be fixed.)

Both front teeth feel really loose.

Has anyone got experience of similar and they were okay? I’m panicking so much.

DH is pissed at me because I’ve ‘traumatised’ my kids by telling them off that they’ve chipped my front tooth. This night is a joke.

If I had anywhere else to go I would leave right now.

I don't think you will lose your teeth but do get yourself to the dentist asap.

Sad Nothing of any use to add but bumping for any dentists around.

Oh, you poor thing! It sounds like a total accident, but you really need DH's sympathy, not him being pissed off at you!

I'm sure there will be dentists along to reassure you shortly. I'm sure they'll say you can fix it with something like composite bonding if it's a large chip. Accidents happen.

Emergency dentist tomorrow, and make your DH pay for it to compensate for his lack of sympathy! Flowers

Get to the dentist tomorrow for treatment if needed, but mainly reassurance!

Teeth need to be VERY damaged before they’re irreparable.

DH swam into a wall as a teenager and shattered his front two teeth. They were able to make a bridge that attached on to the bits that were left which is still doing fine now he’s nearly 40.

Honestly, my teeth are (were!) like my best part. There’s lots wrong with me but my teeth were perfect. I’m so angry. Mostly because it was totally avoidable by just behaving like normal human beings and not fucking about.

This sounds nuts but put the broken tooth in milk and take it with you to the dentist tomorrow. The milk somehow preserves it so it can be stuck back on. Learned this in girl guides, and have had a couple of people thank me when I've told them to do this and their dentists have been thrilled!

FWIW I had a fairly major chip out of two of my front teeth when I fell over drunk and lost the bits of tooth. The dentist was still able to rebuild my teeth and you can't tell the difference. It's been 6 years and have had no issues with them, fingers crossed. Hope you get it fixed asap.

DS lost a big chip off his front tooth as a teenager, messing about with his brother. I was furious with my other DS, but that's a whole other thread. Anyway, the dentist was able to repair the chip so it's not noticeable. It does need replacing occasionally though.

As for the wobblyness when you get your front teeth bashed, that should settle down in a few days. I'm not a dentist, just speaking from experience of my daft DS.

Fell over and slammed teeth first into the floor five years ago. They were bent back into my mouth. Got a root canal the next day and they are fine. Get to a dentist!

Hope you're feeling better now, OP. I understand what you're saying about your teeth being your perfect feature. You won't feel so bad tomorrow or in a few days' time, when you've got over the shock (even a small dental chip, I think, is quite a shock) and seen a dentist.
