Did you go out much towards end of your pregnancy?

Just curious as I'm exhausted now and hate going out on my own with ds in case anything happens.

OH Is always at work but I usually wait until he's home to do the shopping and other errands.

Yes, Dd was 11 days late and I was bored out of my mind. Unlike you I didn’t have another child so it was easy for me to go out.

SoyDora · 12/08/2018 18:30

Yeah loads, I go stir crazy at home. I walked the dog for hours when DD1 was due and went into labour while Christmas shopping at Cribbs Causeway!
DD1 was only 19 months when DD2 was born and we would have both gone insane cooped up at home so we went out and about a lot. It was summer so just lots of picnics etc.
If you don’t fancy it and your DS is happy at home then don’t push yourself into going out!

bingewatcher · 12/08/2018 18:34

That's the thing I'm quite happy to stay in but I don't think it's fair on ds.
I'm so bloody uncomfortable though I may just have to suck it up and take him out this week.

I went two weeks over with DS1 and was frustrated that I had to stick to the nearby towns (went for leaving lunch on my due date about 30 minutes away...we had two cars and we figured DH would have time to come and get me...some of my male colleagues were slightly jumpy once they realised).

DS2 less far as I reckoned I’d have less time in labour but still went out locally.

Babdoc · 12/08/2018 18:38

I remember with DD1, it was a heatwave summer. DH, not quite understanding about the physiological demands of late pregnancy, took me for a walk that included climbing a 1 in 4 hill when I was 8 months along - and was surprised when I had to give up before the summit!
With DD2 I worked until 8 months, but as I was a hospital doctor I’d have been in the right place if needing any attention or starting labour!
I think it’s a very individual thing, OP - some women seem to be fit and full of beans right to the wire, others have a tough pregnancy or weight or health problems that limit their activities at the end. I’m sure this summer’s ferocious weather hasn’t helped!

JennyBlueWren · 12/08/2018 18:40

I worked up till the end including bus to work and a short walk. Was lucky to often get lifts home. Other than that I just walked to local shop.

gamerwidow · 12/08/2018 18:42

I was commuting for 3 hours each way to a training course for my work at 37 weeks. I didn’t really stop until a few days before Dd was born which is just as well because she was nearly 2 weeks over due and 4 weeks of sitting about in doors would have bored me out of my mind.

gamerwidow · 12/08/2018 18:43

There’s is no right or wrong though you should only do what you feel comfortable to do.

Crunchymum · 12/08/2018 18:54

Yep. I worked up until the day before I was induced with DC3.

(I do live and work near my hospital)

AragonsGirl · 12/08/2018 19:06

I was 10 days overdue with first, went for a walk around local shopping centre with my husband. It involved walking up several flights of stairs...baby born the next day!

StandardPoodle · 12/08/2018 19:16

I was out and about until the end of both pregnancies - DS2 was 4 days early and I went into labour at work.
I was fortunate in that although I was classed as an older mother, I was very fit and active throughout both pregnancies.

Heatherjayne1972 · 12/08/2018 19:27

Well yes. Some of us worked up until almost the due date

I just carried on as normal

LeighaJ · 12/08/2018 19:33

I worked full time until the week before my due date and we very regularly went to the cinema or out to eat. I only shopped at places I could take the bus to or my husband would drive us.

user1471459936 · 12/08/2018 19:51

I went for a cycle ride at 40+2 😮

MeltingPregnantLady · 12/08/2018 19:52

I have severe SPD and I'm going mad. I mentally want to go out but physically cannot move any more if I could go out I would.

With my others I was out and about right up to and beyond due date.

PepperSteaks · 12/08/2018 19:54

DD was born 4 days early. All I did my entire maternity leave was walk and walk and walk and walk.

zerozerooneone · 12/08/2018 20:08

For DC2, I went out and about as usual with DC1. He was born at 41 weeks. I went out for dinner a couple of days before so about 40+5. Then on the day I went into Labour, I'd taken DC1 to swimming and a playgroup.
It depends how you feel. I found keeping to a routine and neimg out and about worked best for us but I was also pretty mobile so it wasn't a problem.

AndreasFault · 12/08/2018 20:12

We went out for dinner every night that ds1 was overdue, and had a weekend away at 39 weeks. Reasoned that we should make the most of it while we could.

bengalcat · 12/08/2018 20:14

Well worked up to 38 weeks and 5 days and yes still met up with man and mates - used to enjoy the odd glass of red wine in the City - by the end of the day though would look down at my legs that would swell up like the elephant man

bingewatcher · 12/08/2018 20:17

Jesus think I need to grow some balls then! I'm not very mobile though can't walk very far have to keep sitting and babies head on my pelvis feels awful Sad

Yep, the day I went into labour with ds I went out for lunch. The day I went into labour with dd I was out at ds's preschool art show and then out for dinner with my in-laws. The day before that, I did 3 hours in the community charity shop, walked a mile and a half home with ds and then baked two cakes and a tray bake for the art show.

Because the weather was so good (dd was born in June) I was walking ds to preschool most days just going a little slower and doing all my normal stuff.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 12/08/2018 20:23

My grandma told me she went out dancing until 1am at 42 weeks pregnant Shock She went into labour shortly after getting home so all that dancing clearly did the trick Grin

MrsJonesAndMe · 12/08/2018 20:32

Yes, I worked up to 38 weeks with my first and went to 41 weeks, so would have gone mad if I had stayed in. With my 2nd I went to 42 weeks and was still doing school runs and shopping etc right up to the day before.

TheThirdOfHerName · 12/08/2018 20:33

Pregnancy with DS1: carried on as normal until delivery.
Pregnancy with DS2: carried on as normal until delivery.
Pregnancy with DD & DS3: in hospital from 31 weeks with HELLP / pre-eclampsia. Could manage to get up to go to the loo / shower but not much else.

Shenanagins · 12/08/2018 20:37

For dc1, I was happily out and about right up until I went into the hospital. With dc2, I didn’t want to go far from the house at all, it was very strange.
