Spotting mid cycle when to go to gp?

I had a smear last month (was due one). I had some spotting after that, but assumed that it was down to the smear test.

Now I’m spotting again. Both times have been mid cycle. I don’t take ny for of hormonal contraception.

Is it silly to book a dr appointment straight away? I’ve never spotted mid cycle ever before.

Not silly to book one straight away at all, it is something that needs investigating. Most likely it will be nothing but it's always best to get checked out.

I had this recently. I saw my GP who did a smear. Don't be alarmed if you are out on the pathway for suspected endometrial cancer, as I was. It DOES NOT mean they think you have cancer (it is unlikely - 90% of referrals turn out to have other causes), but they obviously have to rule it out. In my case, I had a pelvic ultrasound within 2 weeks and was given the all clear. No reason for the spotting was ever found, and ironically, it stopped shortly after. Don't do what I did and spend hours researching cancer as you'll just frighten yourself for what is likely to be hormones, fibroids etc.

Yes, it should be checked out but try not to worry - I had this some 40 years ago and the consultant put it down to ovulation bleeding.

😊 Thank you

I just needed to hear that I did need to go! I will phone the dr tomorrow. Hopefully it’s a good thing that I’ve just had a smear (they said it could be up to 6 weeks to get the results back and it’s been 4).

I’m sure I am ovulating, but I’ve never had it before.

Insist you see a dr though- I had this for a few months before I realised what it was (didn’t seem like a big deal til I told someone else) and the receptionist said it wasn’t urgent and I could wait a week for an appointment. I rang back the next day for a same day appointment cos sometimes these things can’t wait. And the dr was happy I’d gone in. Just waiting for results now. Hope it turns out yours is just ovulation, worth a check though Flowers
