My favourite plant is Ipomoea, grown by seed. I love them 🙂. It’s like the sun is shining through the middle of them. Stunning.

I haven't got a photo - because it has finished flowering this year, but I've got a lovely honeysuckle in my garden - in the evenings the scent is juts beautiful. I also got a lovely jasmine this year and it smells gorgeous too. Sitting outside with a glass of something on a warm evening with the scent of the flowers - just perfect Smile

I love your Ipomoae - I have a sort of shrub convolvulus which I would guess is the same family, but it hasn't condescended to flower yet Grin

Frangipani - beautiful waxy petals and beautiful scent. I love lilac, honeysuckle and jamsine too. Anything pretty and scented. Ooh and gardenias.

Oh I love frangipani - I used to live in Florida for a while and frangipani reminds me of my time there - they grew everywhere Smile

I rather fancy getting one of these trumpet vines to grow around my front door for next year.

Ismene Sulphur Queen - fancy yellow flowers with a delicious lemon floral scent. Best grown indoors, when the bulbs are big enough they can flower twice a year.

Night scented phlox, tiny white flowers that come out at night, with a heavenly scent. Sow in pots to bring indoors in the evening. Attracts loads of moths.

wowfudge · 12/08/2018 16:29

Those trumpet vines can be rampant I've read. Beautiful though.

Gloriosa lilies are beautiful too - they are actually pink although they look red in photos.

Thanks @KurriKurri, I grow the Ipomoeas from seed, and I am pleased at how they turn out every year. Hope your convulvus flowers for you.

Ooh I must have a look at the Frangipani, they look gorgeous, I love scented flowers 🙂.

I had a Jasmine that grew in my kitchen once, it climbed up and along the curtain pole. Beautiful scent, but I killed it off.
I would love a winter Jasmine for outside. The Ipomoea is dying off a bit so it needs replacing.
@Wowfudge, I have a trumpet vine, Henryii something, I also agree they can be rampant.

I might have to rethink the trumpet vine if they are rampant - I want to be able to get in and out of my door ! Grin Maybe a nice climbing rose instead.

I've just bought an arbour seat for my garden as well and am looking for something that will grow up the sides and across the top of it, my jasmine and honeysuckle are already trained up trellis so don;t want to disturb them. Any suggestions ? Clematis don't seem to do very well round here (and I'm not despearately keen on them anyway - I'd like something scented if possible)

Pasithea · 12/08/2018 17:14

Nothing beats an old fashioned rose.

CrumbsInBed · 12/08/2018 17:45

@UpstartCrow, I’ll look out for the Ismene sulphur queen and the night scented flox.

I have a clematis somewhere under the Ipomoae, maybe the flowers might come out now the Ipomoae is dying off.
Mom, roses, sounds like they could be what you need @KurriKurri.

Not Mom, Mmm.
Sorry @KurriKurri, I see you have mentioned a climbing rose.

I’m going back to the garden centre next weekend to look for climbers for the Autumn..
