Teacher "thank you" presents.

What's everyone's opinion on teacher thank you presents at the end of the school year?
I've personally never done it. But I don't have a reason why.
However I always feel guilty on the last day of term when everyone rocks up with a gift.

I kinda feel like it's just another big thing by the supermarkets to push sales.
What do you mumsnetters do??

There are a million threads on this across MN at the moment. General opinion from teachers is write a thoughtful card with specific reasons why you like them/ how they have helped your child and email the head.

Or just get your child to make them a nice card.

I am a teacher I certainly don’t expect it but it is nice to have a thank you so a card with a message in is very nice to receive. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to show your appreciation

Each to their own. My dd is only preschool age and in a small setting. Last day today and she’s handwritten a card for each teacher with a £5ish box of chocs each. Not original or exciting but if they don’t like/ want them they’ll be easy enough to give away to someone they know unlike ‘best teacher’ type gifts. I sent them in in a carrier bag and can honestly say I didn’t notice if other parents had brought things this morning.

I received a number of cards from the nursery children which meant much more to me.
