Seagull ate my chicken!

I forgot to take some chicken fillets out of the freezer earlier so thought I was being clever by putting the pack outside on the patio table to defrost quicker.
I have just come downstairs to a seagull having pecked through the plastic and eaten most of the middle fillet, the ones at the side look untouched and are still covered by the plastic.
Dare I risk giving it a quick wash and cooking it or do you think we will all die from seagull poisoning! Help WWYD?

use the ones still sealed and chuck the other one.

dontticklethetoad · 25/06/2018 13:06

I would still eat if it was just the seagull having a peck at it, but wouldn't eat it if it had been defrosted it the sun!

Branleuse · 25/06/2018 13:09

id still eat it

Wallabyone · 25/06/2018 13:11

I wouldn't-seagull saliva germs Shock

StorminaBcup · 25/06/2018 13:12

Do you live near the sea, OP? Only asking because if you live inland then it's highly likely that the seagull(s) have been feasting on landfill which would mean (to me), the chicken would be heading straight for the bin.

This thread made me think of this.

dontticklethetoad · 25/06/2018 13:19

you're a psycho weiner Grin that is just my level of humour MrMagnoliasboot

DownUdderer · 25/06/2018 13:19

I don’t think I’d eat it.

unintentionalthreadkiller · 25/06/2018 13:20

Urgh, I couldn't eat that!

roseblossom75 · 25/06/2018 13:23

No way! I wouldn't even contemplate eating it.
The idea of it defrosting in the sun would put me off before the seagull even landed with his feathery germs!

StorminaBcup · 25/06/2018 13:25

MrMagnoliasBoot - I love BLR Grin

Rattysparklebum · 25/06/2018 13:25

Thanks MrMagnoliasBoot, helpful 😁, it’s just me and DH for dinner, I might say I’m not hungry and serve him seagull chicken and watch closely for any problems such as him needing urgent bathroom visits 🤔

Oh god please don't eat it! Birds can carry all sorts of diseases. Envy < not envy!

Rattysparklebum · 25/06/2018 13:29

roseblossom75 I usually defrost at room temperature, I tried defrosting overnight in the fridge and meat is still solid next afternoon, I thought putting it out in the sun for half an hour would just speed it up a bit 😳

What's wrong with defrosting in the sun?!

Rattysparklebum · 25/06/2018 14:19

I just googled seagull diseases, apparently they carry e-coil and campylobacter 🤢 I’ve binned the chicken.

Unrelated comment but I got bitten by a seagull a few months ago. My thumb still feels filthy. There's no way I could eat it sorry

InNeedOfALieInNow · 25/06/2018 15:40

Fastest way of defrosting is in a sink of cold water - regularly replace the water. Defrosting inthe sun isn’t a great idea
