Just about a month ago 3 year old DD managed to get herself trapped on the balcony.
A neighbour called the police and told them that she was out there for 1/2 hour and that it happens frequently (not true). By the time the police arrived, Dd was retrieved from the balcony and enjoying a bath. The police had some reservations about the state of the house and made a report to social services.
Since then, we have secured the balcony, cleaned up the house and started to follow a fly-lady type programme to keep things that way.
I have sought advice from Facebook parenting groups and taken criticism on board.ive had a really good think about my parenting.
There is no word from social services yet. I've been calling once a week to chase and have managed to establish the name of the social worker we're assigned to and that's she's currently on annual leave. I've written a letter to her introducing myself, expressing willingness to work with her and giving details of when we will be on holiday, phone numbers for me and DH and advice about how to navigate the quirks of our buzzer entry system.
My question now- if I don't hear back from this should I just drop it?
In my heart of hearts I don't want to be assessed by social services. But on the other hand, I don't want this to suddenly reemerge as an issue months down the line, when I've all but forgotten about it
WWYD? Continue to chase or not?
