Would you send DD to school?

DD has been sick, once, after breakfast this morning. She woke up perfectly well and got stomach ache after eating her breakfast, I sent her to the bathroom to see if she needed the loo but she vomited. So I've kept her off school but two hours after she came round and has been dancing around the room, complaining she's board and wants to go back to school. I don't think she has a bug because she's not vomited since or anything else. Should I send her to school tomorrow (as long as she's not ill again) or leave it until Wednesday?

Maybe keep her off and do some spellings together if she is BORED?? Grin

Why did she vomit? If your kid gave my dd a bug I'd be very pissed off.

What is your schools policy on upset stomachs ? Tbh I would stick with that she might go to school say i was sick and you get a call to collect her.

They recommend 48 hours and I would stick to it, imagine how you’d feel if someone not so sturdy got very ill.

My DD was sick once. It was definitely a bug. I know as she gave it to me!

Dizzylin · 16/04/2018 15:32

Oops April Grin

That's the thing I've no idea why she vomited, if she'd had D&V all day I wouldn't even consider it but since she's only vomited once I don't think she's got a bug, the same note I don't want to pass anything on to anybody else.

Yeah I would stick to the 48hrs and send her back wednesday.

CaffeineAndCrochet · 16/04/2018 15:36

If she seems well and eats without vomiting again for the rest of the day, I'd send her in.

gussyfinknottle · 16/04/2018 15:43

You vomit to get rid of something. Please give it 48 hrs.
I'm immunocompromised, it really knocks me for six if I pick up a bug that someone more robust thought was nothing.

Dizzylin · 16/04/2018 15:48

Thank you for all of your replies. I think I'll keep her off to be on the safe side.

Like you say gussy what's nothing to us may cause problems for somebody else.

Thank you. I know it's a boring drag if you feel ok in yourself. I hope your dd feels better soon . Sounds like an excuse for watching a rubbish movie 🍿 Thanks

My dd often is only sick once when she has a bug. I know its a bug because her siblings get it either before or after and they are sick for days!!!

Keep her off, there's a rule for a reason.

(now if there was a reason like coughing until she was sick or choking then being sick then fair enough...but being sick for no reason usually means some sort of bug)

I’m like this. I’m also hardly ever sick. One particularly awful bug:-

Dh - sick 7 times
Dd -sick 19 times and hospitalised with dehydration
Ds - sick 13 times
Me - sick once. It was bloody awful though. Textbook definition of “violently sick”.
