Hi all need advice! Me and DH are going to a surprise 30th birthday party next weekend my problem lays with a gift. Ive always thought you couldn't arrive empty handed and should always have something however my husband disagrees and says its different for men they dont expect anything and we are not close to them at all (its my husbands second cousins husbands birthday) but they are around the same age as my husband and they were at our wedding do and us theirs. So what would you do? Go with something (and what) or go with nothing?

Yes you should take something, even if it’s a token like wine or chocolate.

You're right, you can't show up empty handed. Card and a bottle of wine/champagne should be fine IMO.

Yes a card and a bottle of bubbly

Isn’t it better to be the only people to turn up with a little something than the only ones who don’t?

I should say, one friend bought my DH cinema vouchers for his fortieth, I thought that was a great gift.

Thanks guys think we will take a little something im thinking vouchers of some sort as the party is out somewhere and i know alot of venues can be funny about outside alcohol (and easier to carry!) thanks everyone 😊
