How does this sound for Easter Monday dinner?

Our family are all going out Easter Sunday to a country park for a long walk and taking a picnic so that's our easter dinner sorted!

On the Monday I am cooking a dinner for us all not a roast as such we are having.

Leg of lamb
minted new potatoes
carrots
spring greens
brocolli (for brocolli obsessed husband)
gravy

Fresh fruit and cream meringues

Also its for 10people is 2kg of potatoes and 2kg of lamb enough?

That sounds lovely, and that should be enough how ever I'm doing lamb and pulled peppery pork....xxx

MrsMotherHen · 26/03/2018 11:28

ooo I might do a second meat didnt even think of that. Will throw a pork joint on the shopping aswell i think.

It sounds lovely and very eastery and almost exactly the same as mine!

Sounds lovely! I'd do more potatoes - recently finished 2.5kg of mashed potatoes between 4 adults and 3 children. (We are all very carb-loving, and this was a big part of the dinner, the rest was grilled chicken and non-starchy veg.)

MrsMotherHen · 26/03/2018 11:31

I didn't fancy a big heavy roast so trying to keep it nice and "light"

Sounds lovely though I would want roast not new potatoes.

Is it 10 adults or a mix of adults/children? Do you plan to dish out or allow people to help themselves?

The quantities are a bit on the spartan side so you would probably be able to dish out 10 portions if there are some mini children's plates but if you allow 10 adults to help themselves, I wouldn't want to be last.

AdaColeman · 26/03/2018 20:11

I think you need more potatoes and meat than that for ten people.

Lovely vegetable selection! Wine

Chewbecca · 26/03/2018 20:12

(Your guests may not be thinking 'light')

Yes, a White meat alternative is always a good shout

chickywoo · 26/03/2018 20:41

You could some Yorkshire’s bulk it out a bit
Pud sounds yum 😋

Greymisty · 26/03/2018 20:43

Need more potatoes and maybe an extra veg.

ourkidmolly · 26/03/2018 20:46

I know people like it light on the meats on here but I'd do more meat than that.

onlyconnect · 26/03/2018 21:01

If the lamb has a bone in, I think you need more. And definitely more potatoes

MrsMotherHen · 26/03/2018 21:35

I have got more potatoes so 3kg of pots and a huge lion of pork aswell.

I normally do roasties so fancy a change instead.

I would be disappointed with no roasted potatoes.. Why not do both roast and new? Plus I really don't think you'll have enough lamb if 10 hungry adults

MrsMotherHen · 26/03/2018 23:49

I want to keep it as simple as possible for myself am on nights that night. Also dont want to be in the kitchen all day. My plan is to cook meat in morning and make gravy put potatoes on when people arrive then veg in steamer 20min before, all done.....

9 times out of 10 we always have a big heavy roast so thought would do something a bit lighter.

I know for sure people wont be going home hungry am known to be a feeder Blush when the lamb comes on the shop its 2kg min weight so am hoping for a 2.6kg but if not we have a 1.5kg pork loin aswell. I can always go out and grab a half leg of lamb if it's a small leg.

a huge lion of pork Grin

That's showing a real commitment to meat OP Wink

TempusEejit · 27/03/2018 13:38

How about roasting the carrots so you still get some roasty goodness alongside the meats?

Your dinner sounds nice but if you're known as a feeder I might be a little disappointed with a lighter meal (but then I'm a pig hahah - and not that I'd say anything to you of course!). Maybe some creamy onion sauce to go with the lamb? Or a cauli cheese?

Millybingbong · 27/03/2018 13:42

That looks like a roast to me.

MrsMotherHen · 27/03/2018 17:10

its not a roast without roasties and Yorkshires Shock Grin

OP posts:
BitOutOfPractice · 27/03/2018 19:26

Or a lion. It'll be a roaring success I'm sure

MrsMotherHen · 28/03/2018 11:58

stupid auto correct yes loin not lion 🦁
