Job interview

I have a dilemma!

I work in schools. I was made redundant around Christmas, and had planned to be a SAHM for a while. Whilst working my notice period DD's headteacher rang me and asked me if I'd be willing to cover a need at her school for a while. This job was a significant pay cut for me, but as I negotiated part time it meant I could still be home more, and also we now don't need childcare for DS I agreed to it. However, it is in a year group that I am not at all confident with, but I have just been informed I'll be back to my normal year group come September.

In February, a job, which was the same job I'd been made redundant from, came up at a school a few miles away. I went to look around the school, and it looked absolutely perfect. I'm not exaggerating when I say it fits (almost) perfectly into my skill set. It was advertised as full time, but I applied anyway making it clear on the application that I was looking for part time. I was given an interview, which is in a few weeks.

My dilemma is: I've just found out I'm pregnant. If I got the job at the other school, I think they're looking for a September start, which means I'd only be there a few weeks before maternity leave! It would also mean i wouldn't be entitled to Mat pay!

WWYD? Go for the interview, or stick where I am? I just can't decide!

Personally I think I would tell them at the interview that you were pregnant and let them decide (although they'd never actually tell you that they didn't choose you because of this).

I would just stay at the interim job and look for something afterwards.

That's what I'm leaning towards tbh- sticking with where I am. I do like the school, and it is so convenient! It's just the drop in pay grade (and also responsibilities) that I don't like! Typical good planning on my part Hmm

If you were a planning on being a sahm anyway then surely the money side should not be a deciding factor because it isn’t the reason you returned to work.

I would say tell them at interview and not be disappointed if you end up with interim.
