Should i go FT?

Currently working PT in a job i love. My contract runs out end of April and they have told me that they can only offer me FT or nothing after that, which would be M-F 8am-5pm plus some weekends.
I have 2 young children and no family locally other than DH. This would mean picking up from the childminder, getting home at 6, sorting dinner and other stuff on my own. DH gets in late/ works away frequently. I would also have paperwork to do most evenings once the kids were in bed.
Is it managable? Would i regret it? I really don't want to work FT but don't want to leave my job either!?! WWYD?

Sounds hard work but I think you have to give it a go. See how it works out. Many people manage it but you really do need robust childcare... back up childcare etc . Also, a lot of your extra income may go on extra childcare, cleaner, convenience food etc.
But I certainly wouldn't turn it down without giving it a go. Good luck.

Thanks for that. I suppose my biggest issue is lack of support for when DCs are unwell. I don't gave anyone to call on to look after sick children. My friends all have young children too and i would not want to burden them for long days.
Ultimately, i would have to do all the sick cover.

Yes- it's a real problem and stress-causer. When young children are sick, they usually want a parent ... And no one else would want to look after your children if it was some stomach bug type thing that could be passed on to their children....
How understanding is your employer in situations like this? How understanding is your DH's employer?

They are understanding to a point, but with 2 kids generally one gets ill, then passes it to the other, which doubles the length of any illnesses! 😥
