Bridesmaids dresses

Doing a big clothes clear out and just taken a few old bridesmaid dresses out of my wardrobe. I know I won't be wearing them again and I'm not sentimental about them.

What's the etiquette here? Is it wrong to charity shop them? I know I wouldn't give two hoots if my bridesmaids had gotten rid of their dresses from my wedding (they probably have), but would some people get offended? Are they things I forever have to keep in my wardrobe on the off-chance one of the brides asks about them? WWYD?

Oh please charity shop them cos then I can buy them and upcycle them into princess dresses for my 4 year old.

But seriously Id have no issue if my bridesmaid got rid of hers.

My BM dress was trashed by bedtime on the big day. Pulls (it was fine silk chiffon), greasy marks from the late night buffet, makeup... My friend has never asked to see it again (lucky really as it went to clothes recycling) and I told her to sell, bin, recycle hers for my wedding... if they are in good condition then pass them on, but don't feel bad about not keeping it!

You could always ask the bride couldn't you? Just text them and say you're having a clear out and a local charity has a wedding section - ask them if they want the dress back or have any use for it before you send it off for charity.

I should add that I wouldn't care too much, but maybe if I had daughters or something I could make some dressing up stuff out of it?
