Headlice prevention!

I know nothing about headlice but apparently there is an outbreak at school. Apart from checking DS (haven't seen anything so far) should I be doing anything? Can you prevent them?

My daughter was doing home with them very regularly I mean on a Friday night she'd be deloused... since I've been putting her hair up she came home with the for the 1st time this week in 6 months !! ..put her hair up, no negotiating

Use tea tree shampoo and leave in conditioner.

I've heard of people just leaving normal conditioner in too. Makes it slippery maybe.

Regular comb through with hit comb and conditioner, plus spray with " Repel" (from Boots)every morning.
I've heard you can use tea tree oil as a preventative, but it is quite strong, you could mix it with another oil.

Nit check once a fortnight. Wash hair, leave on conditioner, separate into sections and then use a nit comb from roots to tips wiping on a white tissue every brush. If you find anything then do this every other day until you don’t. Nits are so prevalent dd always has hair back and still got them regularly- I know who wasn’t checking and I suspect was the source as now she doesn’t sit near that child we haven’t had them for a full term!

Nenuco cologne in the spray bottle. I've sprayed that on my DC's hair every night after bath/hair wash and have had no problems.

Might just be a pure fluke, but I did some googling and that was one of the gentler answers. And it smells gorgeous!

nearlytime · 03/02/2018 18:37

Oh that sounds good. Is it possible to get Nenuco on the high street? (have googled and can see it online but not in RL shops)

HarshingMyMellow · 03/02/2018 19:04

@nearlytime - there are a few stockists but they tend to be independent, boutiquey types of stores.

It was cheaper for me to buy the spray online then it was in my local stockist also!

Tea tree shampoo/conditioner or coconut shampoo/conditioner.

Go through the hair every week with a nitty gritty.
