Hi,
I am 19 years old now, turning 20 in a month.
My parents have pretty much hit me all my life. I've been hit so bad before when I was 14, they accused me of sleeping with boys which certainly wasn't true, I was the most innocent person. They hit me so much my whole back was purple, but I called the police as I was so scared. When the police came I regretted it to I lied and said they have never hit me, I was just scared. When the police left they done it again.
Anyways,
Now I work with my mum and she just found out I got fired. A few hours ago. She came home and grabbed my neck and started strangling me, threatening to kill me.
I know I messed up but I really don't know what to do?
Thinking of moving in with my grandparents but I don't speak to them so it would be so awkward?
I'm a student aswell, just lost my job so this is really difficult.

So sorry to hear this, can you visit your grandparents and tell them what’s happened and see if th help and let you live there. Or a friend you can move in with to try and get another job. You def need a bit of help, maybe speak to citizens advice.

Poshindevon · 18/01/2018 05:05

You can call Womens Aid they will help you with advice and support.
You are a victim of domestic violence and you need to find the strength to move out.

SparklyMagpie · 26/01/2018 19:31

Call women's aid sweetheart and they will listen and support you and give you great advice.

I'm so sorry you've been through all this :(

Mewmewmew · 26/01/2018 23:40

You've been really brave by asking for help. I'd also recommend calling woman's aid. They will help and support you.

Stay strong!

idontlikealdi · 26/01/2018 23:50

I’m sorry. Echo the above call women’s aid.

rollingonariver · 27/01/2018 07:23

Call the police?!
Find out about council housing in your area ASAP. Even if you don't get a house straight away I believe you'll be quite high priority and hopefully get your own place pretty soon.
Are you safe right now?

hayli · 27/01/2018 11:09

You need to call police. They will make sure by tonight you ate not living with your parents anymore. Plz call WA and police. They cannot get away with this? Are you an only child? Do you have any siblings?

Ghostontoast · 27/01/2018 12:03

As you’re a student can you also get advice from your University/college?

MsGameandWatching · 27/01/2018 12:10

I'm sorry this is happening to you. My life was the same, just my Mum though. I hit her back in the end. Threw her across the room when she came back for more. I was 19 too. Thing is I was getting married and moving out a few weeks later so I think that gave me the courage to do it as I could see the end. You need to get out. Look into social housing, it is easier as a single parent for a bed sit etc, it's families they struggle the most with. And yes call Women's Aid and I know it feels very difficult but I do think you need to call the police.

MsGameandWatching · 27/01/2018 12:11

Not single parent, that should be single person

retirednow · 27/01/2018 12:14

You poor thing. If you don't speak to your grandparents that will be hard for you. Do you have any friends you could stay with. You should call women's aid and the police, this has gone on for too long and you are an adult, you do not need to put up with this.

user1496147688 · 28/01/2018 15:28

It's hard because I have no friends I could stay with
Yes I have a brother who's 12 and my sister that's 10, they have both been hit plenty of times too but not as bad as me

Definitely ring Women's Aid, and when you can, go No Contact. Narcs like them will do anything, once they think they're losing you, to get you back under their thumbs. I know it's hard, but you have to leave, and Women's Aid is a good starting point.

StaplesCorner · 28/01/2018 15:43

You can also call the NSPCC helpline 0808 800 5000 - even though you are 19 now they can give advice on where you can go and what can be done to support your younger siblings. If you are leaving an abusive household - and lets be cleared they have assaulted - you can get help from the local authority. Even the emergency number for your local social services would help but please do something, get out and get away and tell everyone who will listen including the police what your parents have done.

Ah this is so sad, how awful for you, please call Women’s Aid, this will be your start towards a better life OP, you and your brother and sister should not have to live like this, I feel so sad for you xxxx

user764329056 · 28/01/2018 15:47

Also talk to the police and explain about the previous incident when you denied being hit, they will understand, I know this must all be very frightening for you but please try to make some calls when you cannot be overheard by your mother, you will find help and understanding and maybe you could think about involving your grandparents although that probably feels very hard to do, please be brave and take action, you are showing so much courage and there will be a much better life for you xxxx

helenoftroyville · 28/01/2018 15:48

Are you the poster who has been caught stealing from work (Primark)?

I guess it's time to have an honest talk to the police, about everything, don't wait for them to come to you.

You need to protect your younger siblings now too, speaking up is the only thing you can do.

user1496147688 · 29/01/2018 10:02

Yes I am the one who got caught stealing at work aswell. Thank you everyone for the advice x
