Renewing underwear

Have started to do a massive clear out of my house (attempting to follow the Konmari method) and it came to my underwear last night. I have bras, knickers, g strings etc all sorts of stuff which I have had for years, and I mean years, coming up to a decade.
Google tells me I should renew bras every 6-8 months - due to loss of support from material becoming slack and unsupportive , and knickers around the same.
I've really only ever thrown any away when they've broken/ threads have come undone/bra cup lost shape etc
Underwear, particularly bras, aren't the cheapest of items; to change them once a year seems a luxury.
Just wondering what the MN world normally does??
How often do you get new underwear and throw out the current ones?
Is it Google trying to get me to spend money unnecessarily or should I listen to the advice?? Hmm

I throw them out when they fall apart.
Any bras that you have that you have never worn or only worn once or twice give to the charity shop. Knickers that you have never worn, like that 5-pack of thongs that you only wore one of, give to the charity shop. Anything tatty, put in a bag of rags and put in textile recycling.

I always take everything to recycling or charity, didn't think they would take underwear though - unless it was obviously new with tags ....
I think buying bras once or twice a year seems a bit much

They take bras and swimsuits (?). I've bought bras from CS. They were as new. Looked fine, right size, M&S (DP commented that they were nice). I've bought plenty over the years in the wrong size and I might as well pass them on.

I change my everyday bras yearly roughly - I have 4 "core" ones that get worn to death and then ditched. Knickers when they look tatty - again I expect the everyday ones don't last much more than a year but I have nice ones that are probably 5 years+.

The pretty, the decorative, the special occasion ones only go when they are replaced as worn much less.

I still own far too much though - somewhere in the region of 100+ pairs of knickers and at least 25 bras. It's my equivalent to handbags I think.

I wish I had a bedroom/house big enough for 100+ knickers! I've had to whittle it down to about 10 cos I can't fit them in the drawer 🤦🏻‍♀️

@keepsakebox
Lol. I am fortunate to have a bedroom as a dressing room at the moment, I have a whole chest of drawers just for underwear, socks and tights.
It is a plus side to 4 beds but just me and DH. If we ever produce a baby though the dressing room goes!
