Pedicure

Just had a pedicure and gel manicure at a spa in a local boutique hotel, used a voucher I received from friends as a present and top up of my own money to pay for it (£85 total).

Therapist was lovely, really nice. I spent the whole time chatting. She did my feet first and I went for a normal polish, and they looked great. She then did my hands in gel. After she finished my hands she said she wanted to check if my feet were dry and said they were. She asked what shoes I was wearing and I said converse with socks, I asked her if I was alright to put them on and she said yes.

Just got home and the polish is completely ruined on my feet. Some of it has slid off, there is a sock imprint over all of it and the skin around my nails has been covered by the paint that’s been wet. I will need to take the polish off completely.

Do I complain? I really hate complaining and I wouldn’t want to get the therapist in trouble as she is new, and I know it wasn’t intentional. At the same time I had the pedicure to wear open toe shoes out tonight and I now have to redo my own feet which will undoubtedly look shit as I am terrible at doing my own nails. First world problem I know, I just don’t want to complain if it has any chance of affecting the therapist being permanently hired, as it’s not worth it if so.. is it my own fault for not checking if dry myself?

£85 plus a voucher for a pedicure and gel nailsShockyou have in my opinion been ripped off and should complain very strongly. The therapist should not have allowed you to put socks and shoes on for sometime.
I still cant get over how much money you paid. Its exhorbitant.!

85????!!
I wear flip flops home after a pedicure, even if there is snow on the ground. Yes, complain, she could have given you those shit paper flip flops if you only had converse.

No don't complain. It's hardly the therapists fault the polish wasn't 100% set and you hadn't bought appropriate shoes.
Polish can take hours to dry/set enough to tolerate being shuvved into shoes so when she touched to see if it was dry it was probably touch dry not shoe dry. Not all salons have the paper flip flops and even if they did would of been able to drive home in them? Probably not. It is frustrating but complaining will get you an eye roll and probably told you should of bought flip flops. If your lucky they might offer to re do the polish but I doubt it. Sorry.

It's not their fault you didn't bring flip flops but they shouldn't have sent you on your merry way without a warning. I've often buggered off early but it's been made clear that it's at my own risk!!

Madupfam · 06/01/2018 22:28

You went for a pedicure and didn't take flip flops ? Totally a rookie mistake .

tigerrun · 06/01/2018 22:37

Firstly always wear flip flops unless you want to wait for an hour for polish to dry. It’s not their fault you put shoes on, was it your first ever pedicure (surely not - you must have put polish on before if you know you’re crap at it!?). But mainly - £85!??! Blimey, surely £50, maximum £60 for a mani/pedi? I pay £35 for both but have paid more, but not that much! But no, don’t complain - totally your fault for wearing shoes to a pedicure, just take it as a life lesson!

You have been ripped off. I should complain. Anyone intelligent enough, should know that it takes ages for nail polish to dry.

sausagerollsrock · 20/01/2018 20:05

My gosh. I charge £44 for gels and a pedi. I would love to be earning £85 for that.

Wolfiefan · 20/01/2018 20:08

You can't put socks on straight after having ordinary polish put on your toes. That was your fault. What did you expect her to say? That you should walk home barefoot if you were daft enough not to bring flip flops?! Confused
