Angel wings - wwyd

So on Wednesday pm we were asked by the teacher to get white leggings and t-shirt to be with them on Friday am for school play on Monday eve. We were not asked for angel wings and I assumed these were to be provided by the school (they were last year). My dd has just told me that her teacher said they are not having wings. It is now too late to ask the teacher. My wwyd is should I make/buy some wings, should I make extras for all the angels (not 100% sure how many, I think about 9/10) or am I worrying for nothing and a nativity with wingless angels is not a big deal. (I am known for being a worrier!) Thanks for any advice 😇

Just to add my dd was a little upset about it but not too bad and would get over it.

I hope my DD is in class with someone who's parent is like you when she gets there. Personally if you can afford it I would offer to wing all the angels, it may well be a finance issue with the way funding cuts are going and if your DD is upset others probably are too.

It's a non issue.

It's not that I can afford them (I would obviously love to be able to!) And also it is too late to order them online. I would need to make them from cardboard but I can't check with the teacher before Monday. I wish they had asked us to sort it earlier!

We never have wings for our year R angels- there isn't room for them on stage as the children are closely packed together- and they bump and knock each other over with them!

That makes sense, we do have a small hall but they did have wings last year in reception... which the reception class had

From what you have said it seems the school doesn’t want them to have wings for whatever reason. Quite possibly space or getting changed or any reason really. I doubt you would be popular for making ten sets of wings they don’t want. Even if by chance they have done it for financial reasons I can’t see point in you making loads. You would be Overstepping I think.

I'd check before putting yourself out, maybe it's a minimalist sort of nativity...no wings, no crib, no sheep and definitely no shepherd crooks!

Be worth a check in a poundland type shop though if they have that sort of thing in, it's really not worth the faff and effort to fabricate ten pairs of cardboard angel wings!

Wolfiefan · 09/12/2017 11:24

You're worrying for nothing. Stay out of it. Maybe they don't want to be faffing with angel wings along with everything else. Maybe there won't be room for them all on the stage if they have them.
That's not a lot of notice for a costume though. Shock

Wilko have them. With real feathers. Not sure how much they are.
