Mothers meeting

I live in a rented house with a lot of the landlords’ items here such as built in storage, furniture, appliances etc. They are all of a high standard and lovely.
I want to host a mothers meeting like afternoon tea etc.
One or two of my friends have quite high energy children and my home isn’t really child proof or particularly child friendly in terms of the floor being slippery tiles/wood, no safety measures in place such as plug socket covers and generally has my things in places that perhaps would need stored elsewhere if I had children of that nature.
The kids are fun and I think they’re great but last time I had them over, they found some biros and scribbled over a solid oak bookcase.
If this was your home, and friends or indeed your children doing things like that... what would you do about this?
There’s no option to not invite them really as that would cut the group so just looking for ideas maybe I could have stuff for the kids to do rather than being bored causing mayhem 😂 I’m just worried about the huge deposit I’ve put down and may not get back if things are damaged.

I think you'll have time beforehand to semi childproof your home. You can put away anything precious and hide the biros, etc. Providing an activity is a great idea and perhaps limit them to one area only with certain rooms out of bounds.

Oh, and if my child damaged anything I would pay for its replacement/ cleaning, etc.

I just wouldn't do it. I'd meet them in the park and take a picnic maybe, or go to their houses, but I wouldn't have my house wrecked by small children when there are other options.

They don’t invite to theirs and the weather is awful for a park etc.
I would pay if it was my child but £300 or whatever for a bookcase just because of damage with a bit of biro scribble seems just awful!
This sort of predicament must happen all the time, does nobody have first hand experience?!
There’s only so much I can do to child proof really, they find things I forgot I own 😂
