Last age to have a baby?

I'm 38, have two kids already. Thinking about a third, but would rather (in an ideal world) wait for a while until I get pregnant again, only just given birth a few months back.
I eat healthily, occasional take away, don't smoke, drink a little, active gym go-er on and off. Not overweight for my height.
Previous pregnancies were fine apart from morning sickness.
What, in your opinion is the latest age you'd try for a baby? I'm mainly worried about the statistics increasing for a baby that has complications/disabilities.

Hypothetically my cut off would be about 37 but it took us two and half years to get pregnant the first time so I realise life doesn't always work out as you'd like it to.

I had ds3 a few weeks before I turned 39. I thought 40 would be might cut off but I wouldn't mind if I had another now(44)

I had DS2 at 44. He's healthy and happy. DS1 was born when I was 23 and has cystic fibrosis. Some genetic abnormalities are nothing to do with the age of the mother.

I think what I'm trying to say is that anything could happen, and sometimes we have no control over it.

I had ds3 when I was 38 (ds1 at 32 ds2 at 35). I'm pretty fit eat well etc etc but it has really made me think I couldn't be paid enough to have another. I find it so hard. I always thought 40 would have been my cut off but I'm so glad I didn't wait any longer and for me personally that would have been too old.

It really is a personal thing though RL BF has 2 dc and at 40 she is contemplating going for her third. She doesn't feel too old to do it at all and she's certainly not a fit or energetic character.

So it really is a personal thing. Very tough decision.

And after saying how hard it is I wouldn't swap ds3 for the world and certainly don't regret it. And it will get easier... right?!Hmm

I said 36 for years. Then I said 40. I'm wavering towards 43 now thanks a "not quite finished" feeling Grin

  1. I'm 37 and would like another and feel I should get on with it.

It's 40 for me. I always said I'd be married and have had children by 30 but it didn't work out that way. I didn't meet my husband until I was 31 and had Ds when I was 39
