What can I do about the damage

2 days ago my neighbours son dragged his bike across my car door and has literally gouged the paint work a lovely 10inch scrape, I spoke to my neighbor and she said when her husband gets home she will come and discuss it with me. So far nothing!! Thing is also I am trading this car in next month and would obvious loose money on the sale which I can't afford to do. If my neighbour doesn't arrange to cover the cost of repair, what are my options as In if I contacted the police would they do anything ? I really don't want to do it through my insurance as I would have the excess to pay and then my premiums would be higher.
Also her son is 10 years old and had no reason to be anywhere near my car, he has no respect for any of the streets cars a few hours earlier I had to tell him not to hit sticks on someone else's car!!

I would get a quote from a place that can fix it - I had a very nasty ding on a Ford fixed for £200.

I would ask the parents to pay it - but if they refuse get it done yourself rather than suffer the deduction when you move on.

I would also get a quote and take it round.

The trade-in might still be ok anyway, I was all lined up to trade in one of mine once and the exhaust went the day before, the garage didn't change the valuation and it all went through fine.

Were you parked on the pavement?

mama2g · 05/06/2017 07:56

No I was parked in my parking space right outside my house as I said he had no reason to be anywhere near my car

Go back around and make her speak to you or go to the local police station and get a reference number. They may also speak to them about the criminal damage done.
