Me and my ex bought a house 2 years ago, the mortgage was in his name however we both lived there. I've now moved out and I am wondering if I have anything to go on with the property? I'm aware in the grand scheme of things I only lived there for two years and it's not a massive amount however do I have any rights to what I contributed when he sells the property?

I was actually on other household bills such as council tax etc, just not on the mortgage

No I'm sorry but I don't think you do

JustMumNowNotMe · 03/04/2017 14:02

No, only if you are married or if you are on the mortgage. Paying household bills doesn't entitle you to a percentage of the property I'm afraid.

DancingOnTheTable · 03/04/2017 14:05

Did you pay anything towards the deposit?

user1491222850 · 03/04/2017 14:12

Yes I did. We both saved together to buy the property.

Then why on earth aren't you on the mortgage?!Shock

user1491222850 · 03/04/2017 14:29

Because I was on low income, which lowered the amount we could lend. We signed a fixed term contract, and it was due to be reviewed this year but I'm not there now.

Get legal advice about it, without knowing the full details and paperwork the only way you will know is to get some advice

MadMags · 03/04/2017 14:31

It's doubtful that you have a leg to stand on.

Who were you lending money to??
