Car seat dilemma..

I'm not sure this is in the right place, but I couldn't see anything obvious elsewhere...

Anyway - just after an opinion...
The car got driven into on the opposite side that my toddler was strapped into at 30 mph. Everyone is OK - question is this - do I need to replace the car seat and isofix base? There was no impact on that side of the car so I'm thinking I'm OK not replacing that one.
However, on the side that was damaged the second isofix base for our other child was attached to the seat, no seat or child on it. That passenger door has a dent in it and I suspect the rear corner of the car took the majority of the impact.

Will I need to replace THIS Base? Dh thinks not and it'll be OK.

I've emailed maxicosi as they replace damaged car seats after an accident - obviously if they say yes I need to replace them then I'm housebound until it's sorted-not great over Christmas...

Anyone had something similar happen and what was the advice?

I would absolutely replace it, the other drivers insurance should pay

Reality16 · 02/12/2016 21:53

Wait, why are you housebound? Replacements can be got in a few days

You need to replace both carseats, it should be covered by insurance. Even if they look fine they must be replaced after an impact.

Sorry I would be replacing all of the seats/bases that were in the car at the time

Both need to be replaced. But other insurance will pay it as part of the claim. Or your insurance could pay you and claim back from the other party.

I would absolutely replace all seats and bases after any kind of accident, just not worth the risk not to, insurance should cover it

Ok...maybe not housebound but I can't drive anywhere or do a food shop until they're replaced and to replace them I need to drive to the shop (or wait 5 days for delivery)

Also we're talking about over 500 quid which is a lot of money and insurance won't pay out or repair the car until the other driver admits they're at fault - and they don't believe they are as they were swerving to avoid another car who also deny responsibility.
It's going to be a long process..

Get in touch with insurance, arrangements can be made to replace the seats immediately, you do not have to wait.

I remembered about amazon prime so hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow in time to buy food.
Today can be a toast and biscuits day
