Plasterer mucked up new carpets

We've had 3 rooms plastered to get some speedy decorating underway before DC1 is born. Walls look fab - he's done a great job.

However... there are quite a number of brown and wet patches on our new carpets which were pristine & brand new before he started the work. He did put down old curtains on the floor to help protect the carpets, but clearly that wasn't enough. 2 of the rooms have the odd patches here and there, but one of the rooms is looking really mucky and is damp underfoot.

We've text to ask him how he intends to address the issue...

He needed to protect the chapters not you, that said I have never known someone lay carpet before plastering.

I'd get a specialist round to see if carpets can be cleaned. If not I'd tell him they are going to cost xxx to replace.

I know plastering is a mucky job - but I would've expected the tradesman to provide and use protective sheeting?

We told him the carpets were new and he never suggested that we needed to provide anything to protect them.

Twinkle its been a whirlwind month of moving in and trying to prioritise different home improvements. We didn't realise the poor condition of the walls and need for plastering early enough. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Good idea - definitely worth getting a cleaning quote.
