Parking thread

I live in a block of 8 flats. We all have one or two allocated parking spaces, five of these spaces are at the bottom of the narrow twisting drive opposite a wall. They are quite difficult to manouvre in or out of if all the cars are parked there at the same time. The spaces are in this order (flat numbers) 88722 this is on the lease plan but there were no signs on the actual spaces until a few weeks ago when the owner of flat 8 requested that we put up signage to make everything clear and discourage random people from parking there, this was voted in at a meeting. At the time flat 7 was empty and the owner was abroad so did not vote at meeting. Fast forward a few weeks and the signage has been placed in this order 77822. I mentioned this and was ignored but thought oh well, I am flat 2, it won't affect me. This week the owner of flat 8 has bought a massive camper van now parked in the middle space. We are finding it difficult to get in and out with one car let alone two. Last night I parked in one of the spaces marked as belonging to 7 (that really belongs to 8) and new owner of flat 7 has left a note saying they will clamp my car if I do it again. So WWYD can he legally clamp me? Would police be interested as it's private ground?

I know i'm being dim but if you're Flat 2, is it actually impossible to park in your own space or just difficult because you have to manoeuvre?

I would suggest another meeting - get the spaces numbered correctly ie Flat 7 does not have the right to two spaces surely, and also ask if the camper van is a permanent thing. If it is, then I would suggest that the owner is given a different space (within the 5) so that it the parked camper doesn't impact so much on others trying to park.

With regards to the clamp, no he cannot legally clamp your car, however he will probably buy a clamp from Halfords and use that. I wouldn't let it get to that point to be honest. Can you call another meeting for next week?

Thank you for replying. It's not impossible just difficult with one car and very difficult if I have two. I have just spoken to the owner of the camper van who said he doesn't give a shit about the lease plan and I'm not sure we need a meeting. It only affects three flats and thought that we could discuss as adults. Also most flats have two spaces but some spaces are elsewhere on the drive

As a majority of residents you agreed, officially, to get the spaces marked as they are on the lease plan. I would push to get the signage corrected: it has not been done in accordance with a noted decision.

It is in the interests of no8 to get it done correctly, as clearly the residents of 7 are taking the (wrong) signage seriously.

Show the residents of 7 the minutes of the meeting agreeing the signage, and the lease plan.
