Hi,
The other day my dd (11months) fell on the carpet and carpet burned her poor little noise. It looks awful bless her. I was just wondering what anyone else would do? Should I still take her to playgroup? I don't want people to judge me and think im a bad parent. I think I cried more than her when it happened haha.

She did it at playgroup? It sounds just like one of those things, all children get scrapes and bumps. It's unlikely to happen again.

JimmyCorkhill · 12/03/2015 19:52

You will see children with all manner of scabs/bruises/lumps when you go to playgroup. Just think of it as a conversation starter! No one will judge you (unless you turn up every week with new injuries).

Tobagostreet · 12/03/2015 19:55

Yes! Assuming you both enjoy going, still take her to playground!

If anyone is cruel enough to judge you on your DD having a bump, console yourself with the fact that ALL children have bumps. It'll be there time one day, and unlike them, you won't judge!

It's part of growing up/increased mobility.

*playgroup

I'd think it was more suspicious & concerning if I found out someone was hiding their child away every time they had a visible injury! There's usually at least one child at our favourite group with some kind of scab/graze/bruise every week. They're kids, they fall over, it happens!

Starlightbright1 · 12/03/2015 19:58

Yes with Tobago... They all have bumps and bruises

Thanks everyone we both enjoy it and we have both made new friends. Theres always lots of new mums turn up every week so I guess its that what foubted me going. Oh well we will still go tomorrow :)

my DS is so accident prone if I didn't take him out every time he hurt himself the poor child would never leave the house Smile

don't worry, no one will judge you. and when she gets a bit older she will have a lot more bumps and bruises.

gemmaloup · 13/03/2015 21:00

Took her this afrernoon... all the mums who have other children understood but got a few dirty looks from new mums, even after explaining what happened. The group leader tried to ease my discomfort by changing the words of 'peter rabbits got a fly upon his nose' to Layla rabbits got a fly upon her nose because her scab has gone black lol.

Well done Smile. Sounds like the leader is supportive of you. New mums always look disapprovingly at mums of toddlers. It will be their turn soon Grin

MummyBtothree · 15/03/2015 00:00

Dont worry about what others think. Toddlers who are allowed to play normally do get scrapes and bruises, anyone who automatically presumes any other is the one that should be given a wide birth.
