Where to go to improve my grammar?

I've recently started putting together a few guest blogs and articles - I'm really enjoying it and have had v positive feedback.

But...I think my grammar could be better. It's not awful, but I think it could be sharper.

Anyone got any suggestions for courses or books which might help me?

Any advice welcome!

You can find quite a few quizzes if you Google. I quite like this one: www.grammarbook.com/grammar_quiz/grammar_mastery.asp and it gives you explanations for the answers at the end.

Would you find a proof reader to be of any use? They could read the articles then feedback to you, highlighting specific grammatical areas for improvement. Perhaps having grammer tuition linked to your work in this way might be more meaningful (and therefore successful) than 'dipping into a book'?

I'm quite interested in doing this myself actually! If you are at all interested in having a proof reader/grammar tutor please do feel free to PM me.

I am in a similar boat and found a book at home called 'my grammar and I (or should that be me?) by Caroline Taggart which is really, really good. It goes through the old rules of commas, brackets etc. plus parts of speech, sentence structure. It's perfect for flicking through when you're not completely sure of the rule.

Thanks Hawaii that sounds PERFECT. Think I'll get that :)

JubJub, I would definitely find a proof reader useful but at the moment I'm not getting paid for my articles so it's a bit beyond my budget. I'm also writing a book (just for fun) and would love that to be edited too - I'm a way off that stage but I couldn't justify the ££'s again, sadly.

The Penguin (publisher, not animal) Writer's Manual is a great resource, as are the BBC A Level and GCSE notarized websites.

Notarized?! Meant Bitesize!
