what's the correct way to address an envelope to a reverend and his wife - same surname.

Its to pay a deposit for a holiday home they own. In all his emails he has signed himself as a reverend his name. He wants the cheque to be made to himself and his wife. I just wrote the envelope as rev his name her name smith. Then thought that doesn't look right as his wife isn't actually a reverend.

I would put Rev. and Mrs Smith

Up less you know she's ms or goes by miss.

Rev and Mrs Smith?

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 31/01/2014 11:33

Unless...

WandaDoff · 31/01/2014 11:34

Rev & Mrs surname, I think.

I'd probably do Rev & Mrs Smith.

Or Rev His Name & Mrs Her Name Smith. Or leave off the Rev and Mrs altogether.

If you are going with Debrett's, The Reverend John and Mrs Smith. These days many would go for The Reverend John and Mrs Jane Smith (on account of Jane actually having her own name), but if he's old-fashioned/a stickler for formal etiquette that technically implies that they are divorced.
