Trespass causing damage

I have a downstairs flat.

The tenant in the other flat upstairs thinks its funny to climb up onto my back garden 6ft gate, onto my conservatory roof and up into to his bedroom window.

I have had to repair damage to the gate and gate post twice and now it's happened a third time. The gate won't close and is leaning down into my back garden.

I knocked on the door to ask (again) that he stops and to pay for the damage, or at least half of it. They deny doing it despite two separate witnesses seeing him in the act.

I can't afford CCTV so thought I would file a police report for damages to my property and write to his landlord requesting he makes him stop. I also will try to buy intruder paint for the hate and roof.

But apart from that I have no other ideas. So I thought I'd do a WWYD and see if anyone has any good ideas I may have missed.

Personally 3 schools of thought from me. 1) speak to the landlord of that flat. If their tennants are causing damage then they could be held liable for it. 2) pop down to your citizens advice and ask them. 3) and not sure where legally you stand with this - put something sharp on top of your gate/fence. 'Anti burglar device' etc.

What an inconsiderate pig. I don't think its illegal to put something like those anti-pigeon spikes along your gate. (Those pesky pigeons) or that non-drying paint they use on walls, not sure if you need a warning sign though.

Oh aye Intruder paint! thats the one. I missed that bit! Blush

Can you nail lots of barbed wire to the top of the gate, when it's been mended, to stop him?

Catsmamma · 02/02/2014 16:21

Didn't you decide not to do this in case/because of poisoning their cats with the intruder paint in your last thread?

You can get rubber spikes which cause intruders to let go but don't cause damage to hands. I'm not sure what it's called though. Otherwise, you can plant natural deterents.

Could you put one of those bright outside lights with a motion sensor (and get the brightest one you can and dazzle the fucker?)

Or remove the hinges from the gate so that when he tries to climb it the whole thing goes crashing to the ground?

Or I believe you can get motion sensor water soakers?
